HMP Frankland Co Durham

Hi all can anyone clear this up for me ■■
I have been told that the only access to the prison is via a 12’ 6" bridge. Surely there must be another way in, it seems very odd to me that the prison and the village it’s in were all built where the only access is under a relatively low bridge.

many thanks all

you aint gonna try the ole ronnie biggs trick are you??

It looks like it according to google maps, and street view shows that someone has hit the yellow bollard on the airlock

there is always a way in fella  just gettin out maybe hard, the last time i visited it was in a sweat box. joking i have never been to prison

Yeh, we had to meet a van up there to tranship our delivery in to when I used to deliver there,
Cat A prison.

thanks for that fellas
this place must be the font of all knowledge

looks like my 12’ 6" maybe 12’ 7" might not make it but I’ll have to see.
as for the trans-shipping we have already spoken to them and as a last resort thats what were gonna do.

Once again many thanks all

what height are they fire engines with the big telescopic lifty thing on top? Sorry I can’t remember what they’re called lol

i often find giving a copper a good kicking will get you in. bridge or no bridge.

it’s maybe designed that way so that only 53 prisoners can break out at a time instead of 88 on a double decker? :bulb:

I’d be careful with that bridge, Have they / you seen the rebar sticking through the underside of that bridge?? Might be about 12’ 3’’ then

yes there is a low bridge on the road to frankland i cant remember the hieght of it but its low its the only road in past some houses if your going inside there is very strick security for good reasons iv been in when they were building a new wing they take eveyting of you and the truck and you get a 4 gaurd ■■■■■■ with dogs that go for the gaurds and all the prisoners stare at you through the bars not a nice place to be even as a visitor , good luck

Its not a bad place to visit can think of worse, Saint Andrews blue nose scum

It seems that the search procedures and dogs are needed to protect the scumbags that are in there. They should probably let them kill each other, Huntley Al Quaeda Khyam etc

Having done deliveries to the prisons there, all deliveries are to the RID yard located between both prisons, they offload the pallets and everything is x-rayed. they can x-ray a full pallet at a time.
I can confirm that it is indeed a low bridge on the approach. That road ends on a cul de sac turn around for buses. and the only other lane, heads off into the wilderness ending nowhere.

It doesn’t end up nowhere, at the end of lane there’s one of Durham hidden gems, Finchale Priory xrl.in/59i1

Theyre called a fire engine with a lifty thingy on top

Extendable ladder

well having been measured at 12’ 7" empty I still managed to get under.
Luckily never had to go through security as my delivery was for the changing room in the staff gym !!!

many thanks for your help everyone
