This was posted on FB but it is common nowadays, it was fuel at first now it seems anything gets attacked. We have three different locking systems on our fridge trailers but they still break in, these are not casual thieves but professionals with portable laser cutters and they do it in supposed secure parking, one pays for the overnight parking in these areas which is not cheap but you are still at risk and it seems no one wants to know, what a state our country has gotten into, Buzzer
Whilst I echo the sentiments of this piece you can also understand people not wanting to step in, with the influx of Eastern European gangs in this country now and people that would ■■■■■ your throat for a fiver it’s no surprise, the only thing I would say is that people could try contacting that rare breeds organisation (they used to be known as a police force). Obviously no one would turn up and they would just tell the victim to claim on his/her insurance.
Slightly different but on the same lines I parked on a dodgy on the cafe on the A5 at Markyate probably 25 years ago, next morning I arrived back to find someone had taken out half of my cab with their trailer! Guess what? Nobody else (other lorry drivers) had heard or seen anything! It must have made a considerable noise I would guess, my lorry never worked again because of that.

Kempston all our trucks are now fitted with 360* camera’s and they still record two hours after the motor is stopped, we have had instances of the clipping of a trailer abroad but its futile pursuing the issue as it costs more to trace them than the repair and of course there is the access which minor scrapes cost less than that is. Even though we have the camera’s fitted the drivers don’t always use them which is frustrating when damage is caused, Buzzer

If you look at the height of the entry hole in the curtain, my guess is the thieves have arrived in a modified 7.5 ton box van, with a side door fitted, they park very close to their intended victim, open the side door and have direct access to the curtain, toe rag in rear of box van is not seen, they can remove as much as they like, the driver does not even have to get out of his cab, all looks normal to anyone passing , just two goods vehicles parked alongside each other.
As you say Buzzer these people are not casual thieves.

A recent trip to Germany opened my eyes,
on the tram in to Hannover we passed trucks parked in the suburbs, presumably near the drivers homes as it was Saturday then on a drive out in the countryside there were farmers trailers and agricultural stuff randomly beside the farms/roads (not in an untidy fashion, just ready for use or part way through something)
Then left my van outside our hotel with reassurance that our camping gear would get touched under the rear tarpaulin.
At home in the uk you wouldn’t dare leave the truck out as the fuel would be gone and trailer cut, farm stuff seems to disappear unless its securely locked away, and i live in the northwest which probably isn’t the worst part of the country.

Hi All
We had a great & informed talk by the Police at a recent RHA meeting.
The tricks they get up to & distances they come from mainly Yorkshire.
I wont give all their tricks on here as everybody will be that clever.
But it is many millions falling off the back of a lorry every year.
Cheers
Rich

They do it because they KNOW they are going to get away with it…no deterrent
Law and order in this country is a ■■■■ joke, your gaff gets turned over, and it is rarely investigated,.all you get is a crime number and not even a visit from the Police when you report it in many cases
They are too busy prioritising on other far less important things.
Not only have we got our own home grown low life scrotes, but the human dregs we are now importing from other countries coming over illegally to contend with also.
The country is ■■■■ ed.
Suspicious or what, driver akip and to save curtain ■■■■■ intentionally pulled back nothing to steal or some scrote having a peak. Credit to eastleighbusman for the photo at Rownhams.
Oily
Definitely the driver intentionally pulled them back.
