Hiab is a crane manufacturer . An npors approved licence for a brick/block grab should suffice.

Any difference between the two mate?

Not sure on the difference, but when I was looking into it I checked with a few firms and ALLMI seemed to be the one most wanted, plus its linked to CSCS so should be accepted on most sites.
Managed to get mine done as an experienced operator course, so only 1 day, as I held the Network Rail equivalent. Did my hook and grab on the same day.
Don’t know where your based, but I did mine with Train a Lift at Coventry, and would recommend them
I’ve got the ITSSAR ticket but if/when I come to renew it I’d go for the ALLMI, it does seem to have established itself as the preferred issuing body. ALLMI will cost more but is more widely recognized. I think there is also an RTITB ticket too.
Regardless of which ticket you get, what employers are really looking for is experience; getting the ticket is really just a matter of coughing up the readies, knowing what to do in a real delivery situation is a different kettle of fish, often requires a bit of ingenuity and problem solving logic.
Hi, I work for a builders merchant,we use ALLMI and I’ve never been refused on any site(most don’t even ask)
As someone has already said there is a tie up between ALLMI and Cscs the card has the logo on it.
If you’re doing it yourself you want a certificate that covers, hook, brick grab and remote control.
For Allmi these are categories c1+5+e.
C is for a crane up to 20 ton a metre 1 is for the hook, 5 is brick grab and e is remote control.

Hi bud, sorry no idea as the company payed for it.
You could always try one of Jewsoms/Travis/ Buildbase to see if their taking on drivers as they will put you through the training.
The local training company to me (Ritchies) are about £300 for a two day training course last time I looked.

Have a look at allmi.net under Training Providers.
If you need a company that states it has it’s own training vehicle, there are nine within 50 miles of the ST1 postcode
I had this info bookmarked for myself for future reference, I won’t name the company but they are on the Allmi list, albeit it a fair distance north of Stoke. It ain’t cheap!
This is for training at their site with their vehicle, so if you’re doing it independently these are the costs you’d be looking at
2 Day - Novice Operators, designed for a complete novice that has never operated a crane: £574
1 Day - Existing Operators, this course is for competent operators that are untrained: £394
1 Day - Refresher Course, for drivers who have an expired ALLMI Loader Qualification: £394
1/2 Day - Conversion Course, drivers can be trained on an additional attachment: £205
You dont need a card for much now. I can swing a hiab about for fun no cards (expiered)
As stated noone asks they just assume you have said card.
Regards.
Tis true: I’ve never been asked to show my card, not by an agency, nor an employer nor a site.
But if they do ask for one, you’re stumped.

Imagine the Headline
Early June i got my ALLMI card for hiab C1+C5+E which also works as a CSCS card so you can go on construction sites, was a 2 day course half classroom half practice on a crane with brick grab / hook with and without remote. Did my training at train-a-lift in Coventry and would highly recommend them if they are nearish to you.
