Just took an empty artic down one of these
7.5T
11pm-7am.
Except for Access
Three lovely pensioners sat outside their house with “HGV Watch” taking photos of me.

Why did you drive it there?
What time was it when you drove along the road and what was the purpose of travelling on that road?

4pm and I’ll be honest it was a shortcut.
Not that it matters, but it wasn’t width restricted or bridge etc.
If you just did this around 5pm then you are not ■■■■■■ at all.

Not ■■■■■■ at all. You’ve done nothing wrong. If you’d travelled through between 11pm and 7am, then you’d be ■■■■■■.

///\THIS///\ They just don’t want trucks down there between 11pm and 7am
Bad form to invite comments then completely rewrite your post to make those commenting look like pillocks.
If the restriction is 11pm to 7am then your right it doesn’t matter as far as I can tell. Probably to keep traffic noise down at night.

Just out of curiosity, is that the B1040 between St Neots and St Ives? If it is, then it’s no longer timed. It’s a 24/7 7.5 except for loading restriction. You can only use the old A14, A428 or A1198 via Huntingdon to avoid. It’ll be the Nimbys in Hilton that got you.

Correct.
I’ve just posted the sign that they put up last week as the streetview picture was a year old.
As above, they banned everything above 7.5T in February I believe.
OK, well don’t dwell on it too much brother. I know this as a colleague did exactly the same yesterday in the same place! They filmed him entering and exiting Hilton. It’s only recently changed, and from a bit of digging they’re not quite ready to enforce/fine yet. You may get a warning letter. They’ve not started hanging drivers for this just yet. hilton-village.com/ have a read on there.

I’ll go in the office tomorrow with puppy dog eyes and an apology.
On the plus side, I doubt one of our drivers has ever been this way so fingers crossed it’s just a letter.
Definitely better telling them sooner rather than later, softens the blow! They can’t spring any surprises on you that way.
If it helps I was told the northbound signage is practically non existent until you’re already leaving the roundabout. No excuses southbound.
Was a cracking rat run mind
I got stopped a few years back driving through a village in Norfolk with 7.5 tonne weight limit signs in place.
When I contacted Norfolk County Council they admitted that the signs were in place although the four procedures that have to be followed hadn’t been completed.
They even apologised for me getting stopped and had informed the police not to stop vehicles until advised that everything had been completed.
It must cause those pensioners more time, energy, and inconvenience to sit there recording lorries than choosing to ignore them coming through. It amazes me the things people choose to get upset about.
Maybe I’m a [zb], but I’m of the mind artics should be able to go anywhere they want except for the odd sensibly placed weight limit here and there.
If Carlsberg did HGV’s and weight limits there’d be no bin collections, no corner store deliveries and no fire engines.
There must come a time when suppliers say with a smile:-
"We promise not to send any trucks over 7.5 tons through your village. would you give us a location outside your village where we can pick up your rubbish, deliver your beer and food etc… ■■
