HGV/PSV Tacho and WTD rules

Just a quick thread to ask about the rules and regs for PSV drivers and if/how they differ from HGV drivers. The girlfriends Dad is applying for his Cat D licence and just incase he gets stuck getting the WTD and tacho into his head I’ve offered to help but want to make sure I have the correct information. If it’s the same as us HGV drivers then I’m fine but want to make sure before I start preaching the wrong stuff.

He’ll be working for the local bus company so no tacho involved?? Does he just follow WTD for mobile workers like we do?

If someone could give me the low down on the rules and regs so I can help and not hinder him it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark.

Hardly needed but here’s VOSAs Guide to the Rules on Drivers Hours and tachographs - Passenger Carrying Vehicles 2011

As far as I can remember the RT(WT)R 2005 is the same for both “PSV Drivers” and “Goods Vehicle Drivers” apart from the definition of “night time” for the night workers working time limit which for PSV vehicles is 01:00 to 05:00.

Here’s a link to the “The Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005

Thanks tachograph, I’ll have a read over them later.
