HGV medicals

I am strongly suspicious of anyone coming on here touting their tender on any market.

Winseer,

Nothing has been touted.

I see a Dr asking a couple of questions in the OP and expressing a hope that they can help.

No company name has been mentioned.
No fee has been mentioned.
Therefore, by skilful posting, Forum Rule #5 has not been broken up to this point, and suggests that drcripps has taken time to read and respect the forum rules.

Winseer:
" Been allowed to join trucknet " - my arse! The automated sign-up system didn’t prevent you that’s all.

:bulb: I’d say that “been allowed” is entirely accurate, because the TN sign-up system isn’t automated.

Dieseldave, Thank you!
Am reading all comments with great interest.
Do folks think a doc should do a 5 min ‘medical’ for £15 or a thorough one?

If you are saying we are being grossly over charged because we are, then please say so.
I get enough hassle from DVLA over eye sight and high blood pressure, because they can’t identify what is legislation and that is not.

Winseer, you are a gem.
Wrinkly- I think HGV drivers are being grossly overcharged for medicals.

I used Doctors on wheels. One call did it all. They got me a saturday appointment so did not have to take time off.
But anyone could wee in the pee pot sample. It is not checked who the urine belongs to.

I use docs on wheels near POPS Truck stop, in warrington. I do give him a genuine sample, and genuin B.P. readouts , but it would be easy to give false ones… Personally I think the Med should be done by your own doctor but with government subsidies, I think its ridiculous that you should pay anything in order to work. This includes Licence, ADR, DCPC, or anything that is required to do the job.
Actually I think the DPCP is the biggest Legal con ever thought up by Westminster/brussels,or which ever suit decided that after nearly 50 years of driving I needed to be shown, that I am scratching my arse with the wrong hand.

This "training"lark has hit all trades and professions. You cant prepare sandwiches in a tearoom without a hygiene cert. The people working in granny farms also need training as they call it.If new entrants were being trained it would be a good thing, but when a person with 10 plus years or is nearing retirement then its a scam.

mine charges £75

Dr, what does your PPG think is a fair rate?

The rate should be standard, and when the form comes from Swansea, there should be a further attachment for the doctor to claim his/her fee from the government.

The BMA just says ‘negotiable’-which is actually a little unusual.-may be useful for you!

All they do is sign it and stamp it. I’m buying a rubber stamp and signing my own.

£40 for mine, took my bp, ticked the boxes, signed the form then took the cash !!!

I was quite pleased with that as when I booked the appointment with my GP the frosty old bag at reception told me £70. I still asked the GP how much I owed him when he’d finished the medical… ‘ermmm, it’s £40 I think’ :stuck_out_tongue:

I paid and left
