I can’t offer any specific help with regard to companies in your area but when I moved out here I just kept my eyes peeled for those within a 50km radius and wrote to them all.
Unfortunately I only received 2 replies, both in the negative, out of 13 but was soon offered a job after a chance meeting in the village with a local haulier, SA Gauthier.
How long have you been driving? You will need an FCOS or a FIMO, 5 yearly refresher courses probably similar to the drivers’ qualifications soon to be introduced to the UK. Which you need depends on your experience. Both are expensive but the first is a 3 day course whereas the FIMO is 3 weeks I think.
I was lucky, I didn’t know about it and the boss forgot to ask, thus after 18 months he put me through the FCOS at his expense.
