HGV gov bootcamp after passing theory? not eligible?

Hi
I’m one of lucky few who secured space on gov hgv bootcamp without being asked too many questions. Recently I heard about cases where people were rejected due to already passing theory test before applying for bootcamp. Has anyone experienced such occurence? they’re about to contact me tomorrow to confirm my attendance and I’m kind of worried how it will play out…

If they accepted you, how can they reject you?

After looking at the requirements for the programme, I decided to just do it myself. Less hassle.

Hi there,

Been a bit of a lurker here while trying to get my license. I was accepted with Mainstream in Sittingbourne (kent) and they have recently (Thursday/Friday) told me that I am no long eligible because I passed my Part 1 and 2 separate from the bootcamp, even though I told them when I had the initial contact that I was doing the theories that week!

Needless to say I am hugely disappointed but not going to put me off getting my license. Just means I gotta pay :frowning:

I’m actually considering to keep my mouth shut and do theory tests again

What is the process for the boot camps? I’ve heard it’s 16 weeks long and not only do you drive but also have to do an English and Maths course and jump through various other hoops too…

I got done over by a training school so had no choice but to wait for Bootcamps. I have already passed all the theories as well as CPC Mod 4. Either been rejected after entering my personal details to over a dozen online forms or not replied to by the training providers (not training schools but agencies dressed up as skills trainers).
My guess is that each driver is a cash cow and they try to squeeze as much out of the government coffers for training you. If you’ve paid and done your medicals / theory tests and training/ CPC …etc yourself then you’re not worth diddly to them given that the actual driving school is going to take up the lions share of the funding in that case.

I don’t think you can do your theories again if you’ve passed and they can see that from your driving licence number.
Par for the course from the Tories “Jobs for our mates”. Insert unnecessary agents and middlemen to cream off commission. ■■■■ up - brewery -Couldn’t organise comes to mind.

I’m trying to save some money and will go with the forum sponsor if I don’t get lucky and get a course in the meantime. Although the same caveat applies. If I’m going to sit in a classroom being taught the shape of a wheel for six weeks before I get into a cab it’s pointless.

My dos centavos

They’ll be registered against your license. You won’t have the option.

What was the outcome in the end? Were you accepted?

I’m happy to confirm they have accepted me with passed theory and there is no “loyalty agreement” after passing rest of the tests.

That’s great news. Congrats.
What is the process? Will you go straight on to the driver training?

few meetings in schedule but no practical part there yet. I reckon there is quite long waiting list.
