Lucky that fella in the ■■■■■■ van wasn’t there, he’d of shot around him no bother !!!
We all - well, most of us - try not to do this, but the plain truth is that it can be difficult to get something big and heavy onto a roundabout without ■■■■■■■ someone off. On many roundabouts, if you sit on the entry slip until there’s actually a big enough gap to get into without slowing someone down, you’ll be there all day, thereby opening yourself up to a video taken from the dashcam of the car behind you, entitled “why won’t he GO!!” or something similar.
I can sympathise with you, and have been in the same position myself in a car (or on my bike), but ultimately, all that’s happened is you’ve had to react to changing circumstances and slow down a bit.
In response to Drifts suggestion, the guy said he
d thought about having an assessment drive at a training co. Presumably he would have to go the D4 route to get a provisional entitlement added to his B licence?
It read to me as if he thought he could just pick up the phone and a book a session?
my opinion the truck driver made the mistake cars all seemed to me to stay in marked lane and not cross with no indication but as a lorry driver we do sit at roundabouts wait to get out but traffic seem to use large roundabout like a race track and go a bit to fast around them also drive a automatic daf as in video and there are a pain in the ■■■ at roundabouts you put foot down nothing then you get movement so gap you thought you can get into aint there anymore and hgv driver ploughs through traffic a bit dramatic he was stopped at roundabout not blasting down sliproad without stopping he made a bad call we all make mistakes but like I said at the start only my opinion
Yer the HGV driver has cut the cars up , but would the real car driver , lorry driver and motorcycle rider please stand up if you’ve never cut anyone up , i don’t think there’ are many takers for that prize , judging by the OP replies I think there trying to get people to say its the crime of the century and side with him / her , the title says it all I was expecting carnage to , daily occurrence in my book from all types of vehicles , thankfully no damage done , bearing in mind people can ease off the accelerator a little , didn’t look as though they needed to stamp on the anchors just ease up a little . BTW this is just my opinion
I was hoping it might have been left hand drive which would help explain his actions. Sadly it doesnt look like it. As others have said, a bad judgement call by the driver. Regardless of what lanes the cars are intending on taking or if they’re indicating or not, the distance between exits means they will have to continue past the HGV to reach any exit on the RA.
Out of interest, what camera do you use as the quality seems much better than some. Is it any good at night either?
We can’t possible answer this question without knowing the following
Was it Friday?
Was the driver on a promise?
Traffic laws don’t apply to tipper drivers on a promise on Fridays. EVERYONE knows that.
Seriously, looks like the HGV driver made an error of judgement. He saw a gap which rapidly got filled by the two white cars and your good self.
Luckily the cars drives had the sense to slow down and nothing serious happened.
Good on you for bothering to ask other HGV drivers their opinions before tarring us all with the same brush and slagging us all off on YouTube
Wrong call?
There’s not much point in putting the finger up bearing in mind the tipper driver cannot see him do it… unless it was aimed at the white car?
The trucker is a ■■■■. I know it’s a DAF probly with a treacle auto box but that wasn’t even close to being a marginal call.
You can buy those dash cams with all the kit for less than £20 on Fleabay nowadays.
Just think of all the fun you could have when you get home, sharing every moment of your working day with your partner.
He pulled out in traffic. It wasn’t a clever thing to do. But it’s done and nobody died.
He was in the wrong.
I somehow doubt that was an error of judgement. If he or she could not judge he may slow other vehicles down they should not be driving.
In my opinion that driver saw the cars but just pulled out because he could not care less.Quite a common practice these days.It is these sort of drivers that give us all a bad name
Selfish attitude.

Zb happens, drivers should just deal with it & move on…!Yeah, it does happen, but was it right to have both of these cars to do an emergency brake when both cars were in FULL view from the HGV driver side, so surely the trucker should not have made the move?
Is it the case of “I’m bigger than you, you stop for me” ? Or, as someone pointed out, bad call?
What would have been right was for the cars to have read the road ahead. I saw the truck pulling out before you got under the bridge, at that time, if the Nissan and the other one had lifted off the gas, the DAF would have gotten out and the car drivers would have saved spilling their lattes over the dashboard.
It was a questionable move, but one I had to make on a regular basis in my last job. Running at 44t in a R420 isn’t fun when you get stuck on a roundabut. Trucks like that couldn’t pull if their name was George Clooney.
We have all done it. Wish my DAF took off like that though

…alternatively, you could share every moment with your partner with your work colleagues.
He is probably from London, might has right If you don’t drive like that you will never get anywhere
my tenpenith,
oh well, it happens, crack on
disappointed as the post title “HGV driver ploughs through traffic” i expected him to plough through, moving everything out the way at raming speed
This is Ploughing through = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQAvx2Qbb3o

Sometimes, at a busy roundabout, you just have to ‘go’.
