I went to docs last week as I found a swelling in the groin area ( no jokes please it hurts) Confirmed it’s a Hernia & going to see a specialist in the new year. Told my boss today & he says he won’t pay me for the 4 to 6 weeks off when the op goes ahead. I know I did it at work, I have put it in the accident book but I have no date when it happened as on some occasions you cannot tell when it goes.
My question is has anybody on here had one & put a claim in for injury & won?
I’ve heard it’s one of the hardest things to prove?
What type of Hernia, Igniala or other (other I haven’t had so can’t comment on - my father in law did and that was higher up and a swollen liver due to cancer).
Igniala feels like a suasage swelling in your groin? Four to six weeks may or may not be a bit short. Three years ago I had my left hand side fixored by a very nice boss who paid 8 weeks average pay and paid for me to go to the local Spire as it was four months NHS. Went back to work not feeling too good under the pressure of oweing boss for much private healthcare costs. Tooooooo sooon, other side went with a Hernia.
Expect to be off for six to eight weeks, don’t go back too soon, ask for other duties if you need to keep you wedge up each week.
Don’t know what type of Hernia, it’s only on the right side( about 2" up from my testicles) the Doc checked the other side. He said 4 to 6 weeks but if my boss won’t pay I’ll have to go in & do light duties or put a claim in!
We’re casting for a new BBC One Health Television Series looking for families who may have unidentified or ongoing health conditions who wish to improve their health and make a positive change to their lives. It would include a full health MOT and the undivided attention of a doctor over the course of a month, his knowledge and expertise at you and your family’s disposal.
