I remember Goddards, as I used to work for Mousley Trucking when they were in Coventry, I had my fan come off a Transit 35cwt by Toddy and they were supposed to come out and tow me in, but one of Batemans from Cov pulled up and put a chain on me, 75 mph all the way back to Cov, scarry!!! this was 73, did Pete Timms go on there at some point.
in 73 i was only 5 carn’t remember many more people there i think another driver was a bloke called brian burchill who lived near us in daventry at that time.i do recall that my dads last lorry used to be a luton box van until it went through a shop window and then it was made into a flat bed ,also 1 of the earlier trucks my dad drove for goddards was either a bull nose aec or an albion and the last numbers on the reg plate were 886.i can also remember goddards getting a lwb maggy duetz 7.5 tonne truck.they did i think have a 4 wheeler aec tipper they had made into a artic unit.shortly after that they got there first daf artic unit this had the head lights in the bumper and was the first unit i ever had a ride in with 1 of the other drivers because dad only had a class 3 as it was then.some thing that i,ve just remembered is that 1 of the office staff had a white triumph spitfire and 1 off the goodards lads had a orange mini rally car that my dad worked on.things keep coming back to me
