Coming up the M5, I realised the new Gloucester services are open. I’ve entered an alien world, the toilets are clean, the shower plentiful and hot, the food I thought would be pretentious actually happens to be excellent. Unbelievably the staff are friendly, the building is airy and devoid of marketing materials/people trying to empty yout wallet, which leads me to the most outstanding feature, a FREE CASH MACHINE.
Seriously though, it’s run by the same people as Tebay and they’ve done an excellent job. £23 with a fiver towards a meal isn’t the best deal around but overall it’s a ■■■■ site better than Michealwood or Strensham (or any other MSA).
I’ve been to this place. It’s great! A pleasant place to sit in the sun outside which is strange for a motorway services. Good food from the farm shop and dinners looked very nice from the restaurant. Take away section did nice hot local pork sausage buns etc. Very friendly and welcoming to the lorries. Hopefully some won’t ruin that with the bags of litter etc. Not a Macdos or KFC in sight too.

give it a year or two and it will be the same as all the others,i went into clackett lane last week and found toilet doors missing,the same with seats,holes drilled into the sides of the cubicles [pervs] never understand the mentality of people who vandalise

I hope it doesn’t go that way, I think if don’t keep on top of damage and vandalism it attracts more of the same. But doing this costs money, hopefully they have a good business plan that allows them to keep the station well maintained.
