HELP! anybody please, accident with tea & notepad

Oh dear, with a liquid spill it’s very hit and miss as to which components get damaged, keyboards are usually a write off, but are easy and reasonably cheap to repair, however if the m/b is u/s it isn’t quite so cheap to replace. The best hope of data salvage is to NOT power it up, take it to your local independent tech shop and he’ll most likely have a ‘test rig’ so he can remove your hard drive (usually okay) and copy the data to a another drive or memory stick.

Remove the drive and attach it to any pc as a slave drive.
You can then copy over all the data to the drive in the pc and save it all as a folder.
If you used any passwords on your laptop, windows may have problems with the permissions in accessing the data.
If you can’t do any of that yourself, then take it to a shop.

That’s okay as long as you don’t run into configuration problems when attaching the drive, assuming that there are the correct connections, IDE/SATA (should be SATA though on modern pc’s). Passwords shouldn’t be a problem for an independent techy, PC[zb], Dickless, Worrys and Vomit or whatever they’re called nowadays won’t have a clue.

Cheers madbaz, for the data saving advise, I think I have the temporary loan of a notepad…that’s if we can get it charged ok, but at least it will give me some time to get sorted. I know my notepad to now be failing dismally, thanks.

Cheers Dav1d, for your advise on saving data, I will see about things when I next get a few days off, thanks
