Hell drivers remake

not so long ago there was a post on here about a remake of hell drivers, looking at the latest edition of classic and vintage commercials magazine it seems it’s going ahead, some guy in Essex is cosmetically restoring a fleet of Leyland constructor tippers for use in the film,i said in reply that I hope it’s not an American production as it will be all bombs and bullets,i was right, unfortunately it will be an American production, the remit from the states requires the 15 tippers to be restored with a small number required to be destroyed,no doubt with bombs and bullets, why do remakes have no bearing on the original film, most of us remember hell drivers as a very good film, now the americans get involved and want to blow things up,ruination of an old classic film in my opinion,i know we will have to wait and see if it’s going to be good or not but I can’t see it myself.

Don’t worry, I’ve heard that Stobarts have undercut that guy in Essex.
Instead of tippers teararsing around it’s going to be about bridge bashing.
Hell drivers being a very apt title when you see some of em. :unamused:

They’re remaking another old film that will feature Stobrats… “A Bridge Too Far!”

A film about leaving RDC work ?
Far From The Madding Crowd.

Yeah you is!

Been talk of this for last few years but not heard of any production has started

I reckon they should just leave it.
Re.makes of classics are never as good.
Classic example …re.make of ‘The Sweeney’ (tv series and 2 movies) not half as good as the originals, …even though Ray Winstone was in it.

There are fairly frequent appeals from the luvvies of the film world to vintage vehicle websites for vehicles to feature in their latest story. They have acquired the reputation for frequently being lying barstewards about their intentions about the fate of the vehicle. One only has to watch repeats of Heartbeat to witness how many vehicles end up in a crash. It has become increasingly common for the first or second reply to such requests to be along the lines of go jump in a pond. Even drawing up a contract with financial penalties does not deter these productions with their enormous budgets.

agree with that, expect they will get some pretty boy actor to act all tough.

yeah,you don’t talk like what I does,lol

Positive sign if they’re restoring old UK lorries that it’ll at least be set here with a period setting. If was American production money surpised if it would be set here with period lorries. US audiences prob have never heard of Hell drivers.

Nothing on IMDB about it. Must be under wraps.

That Franglais keeps sneaking in literary references here and there, think he’s a frustrated librarian

Here’s a few of the stars that will be taking part awaiting some cosmetic work before the filming begins.

F704 OPH was new in March 1989 and last taxed in March 1997.

They look a bit different from the Kew Dodge tippers they used in the original film back in 1957.
