"Heavy Haulage through the years"

pv83:
This Volvo folder shows a unique F12, as it was a 10x4 fitted with a torque converter, seen here assisting Econofreight, the Volvo ended up in the Econofreight livery in the end.
Not sure if the Volvo still survives somewhere.

That really is heavy Haul Patrick.

Kaldnes De Groot are a Norwegian ship builder. They built the Townsend Thoresen “Vikings” 1 and 2, in 1964.

Gillfaks B is a Statoil rig in the North Sea. Came on stream Feb 1988 so that photo is `87?

.twenty three year old drove this back in the day, gate change and air assisted steering + manual nockout neck

Remember the gate change well, but don’t remember having assisted steering, and the only knockout neck I had had a little motor to power it as I recall.
What I do remember is the first time I was sent out with one, nobody told me how to do it and I had to work it all out for myself.

Our current HH “expert” has been spotted whilst doing a quick job… no roping or sheeting was needed for this one…

The image is from an old Volvo folder, so I don’t know the specific details, but you might be spot on about the year Franglais. Interesting detail is that for such jobs, SPMTs are being used.

Not saying that’s the best way to do it, but being thrown into the deep and work it out yourself without to much hassle does say a lot

Cheers Buzzer, always thought Cadzow had a really tidy fleet, this is a prime example of that.

From the archives, does anyone have an idea about what make the tractor unit is?

Hi Patrick
Yes Monty was the driver at that time, that’s him stood at the front and I believe Len Page stood at the rear, on A32 near Farnham

Same wagon with ballast box fitted on 5th wheel

Bonnet and grill have some similarity to early model Diamond T

But not the cab, which looks decidedly English, particularly around the windscreen and quarteglass. I’m going to suggest a recabbed Scammell Pioneer.
