Spardo:
Was there a connection, historical or contemporary, between Parnaby’s and Pickford’s? From a dyslexic distance the two could be confused.
I don’t think there ever was a connection between the two David, and I don’t think Pickfords used ERF’s on the heavy haulage side of the operation? I might be wrong though.

Thanks Patrick, just wondered, as the colouring and design seemed so similar.

Fair point David, maybe he was a former Pickfords employee that used Pickfords blue as a hommage…?
At some point Parnabys owned a Rotinoff, not sure where that one ended up though, but it looked quite good in their livery.
And they had a Scammell that was fitted with a “snout” to house the winch I believe, that looked really odd. Allelys bought it and they had put it back to it’s original form and shape.

There there now, don’t upset our current in-house “expert”!
Dead wrong there “pv83” what a ■■■■■■ I’ve never claimed to be a HH “expert” my involvement with "hands on " in the transport business ended during the sheeting and roping era well before the Tautliner took over so sorry “pv83” HH expertise is well above my pay grade but I do know a man who is an expert HH Specialist and a finer and better Operator you would have extreme difficulty finding in the UK ! Bewick.

Blimey Dennis, you had better pull your finger out you have some work to find to fill those trailers!
David
Well David that shot was only a small part of our flat trailer fleet and only Milnthorpe depot but at times we came perilously close to running out of m/t trailers some days usually Fridays but we always managed to cope ! I’ll try to dig out a shot of the yard absolutely clear for all but a 33ft at the bottom end ! Cheers Dennis PS I’m spoiling Buzzer’s HH file Doh !

Have a look at page 81 chap.
Cheers mate, here’s the Scammell in question (pic from the article).
This Volvo folder shows a unique F12, as it was a 10x4 fitted with a torque converter, seen here assisting Econofreight, the Volvo ended up in the Econofreight livery in the end.
Not sure if the Volvo still survives somewhere.
