BuzzerI was hauled over the coals for carrying tracked plant “side saddle”,a very dangerous practice.
David
Yes, I can imagine, never done it myself but if you don’t have knockout wheels or a beaver tail, spinning it once on board can make a mess of the trailer. What did you do after the ‘coal hauling’?
They sent me from Stockport to Seven Sisters Cross Hands south Wales for almost a month non stop bringing back all the plant that was being used to reduce or level off coal slag heaps both Caterpillar and Terex, wife went berserk, divorce petition raised 2 months later!!!

The ALE Kenworth won’t be troubled by the Wet in the NT then.

Any idea what year this was Buzzer? As that type of Nooteboom was introduced in the early 90s I believe.

hi david there getting hot on the abload game the problem is that there rule book says do it this way and the practical on the job side are very different
ive had a few dealings with them myself and been to rescue a few from the big compound at stafford junc 14
to be honest there doing a good job and i know a few guys from CPMG central police motorway group who are pretty much dedicated to abload haulage

0Are the police expert enough to tell at a glance whether or not an abnormal load is suspicious or are these stops made in conjunction with the Ministry? On the other hand does this mean that such loads are often stopped but allowed to continue meaning we don’t learn about them?
Perhaps Mike would care to comment.
In my own experience with Econofreight many years ago I have to say that I was never once checked, perhaps things have changed over the years, but I suspect that this load would not have been permissable then as not being indivisible.
We have had it to easy, I see a lot of photos on Fb and TNUK that i am surprised people put on due to the nature of loads!!
I can remember when we used to have get a special ministry permit to use a trailer which exceeded 9ft 6in in empty state as we had several ex US army trailers in excess of 10ft
Sorry about feet+ inches old school i am afraid
I bet the driver of this load had a firm grip on the seat with both hands on the wheel it being a single drive unit, a bogie drive would have been better but not foolproof.

Thanks Mike, good to know that the boots in the cars actually do know about the job even if the books are a bit wishful thinking.
Give my regards to your Dad when you speak next, haven’t had much contact since he lent me a book about Buntines and road trains in the NT. Never had the chance to take up his offer of dinner next time I was in the UK, haven’t been there for years thanks to you know what and advancing years.
i will do david he said please call him when your available in the uk next
