NMT Crane Hire from Bedford, they’ve just auctioned off a load of their cranes and plant, it said on the information it was to make way for new equipment but that was a hell of a lot of stuff going out and would cost millions to replace.

Probably the latter I suspect. But if that’s a recent pic, it’s quite nice to see a FH mkI still earning it’s keep

What was the name of that crane hire firm that went belly up a few years ago? That was a massive auction! Not sure if NMT are slimming down?

Have to say that was my initial thought too.

Just found this on the auction house website, unfortunately all the photos of the equipment for sale is no longer there.

I was hauled over the coals for carrying tracked plant “side saddle”,a very dangerous practice.

Yes, I can imagine, never done it myself but if you don’t have knockout wheels or a beaver tail, spinning it once on board can make a mess of the trailer. What did you do after the ‘coal hauling’?

Found this gem today, it gets really interesting after about 7 minutes into the film.

Thats a good watch Patrick. The black & white bit about Pickfords is this job.
Has anyone ever watched “Train Truckers” before?

Sometimes there’s just no other option Dave, I imagine that in the case of the knock-out axles they loaded it like that in order to give the struggle with the axle (s) a miss
Did it several times like in the clips, but that’s only because I’m a lazy ■■■■■■■ I did however always put some rubber mats underneath the tracks though.

Of course I should have realised, that trick with lifting the machine to spin the tracks. Never done it professionally myself but I did have a mini digger here some years ago and worked out similar moves myself with ditches, stumping on a steep slope and carrying a half tonne rock down a steep slope. Cracked me up though in that first video, the bloke on the bike nearly getting his head knocked off by the bucket, couldn’t believe they had no traffic control in operation.
