Nice one DEANB, a few more pictures of one of Pickfords MAN’s, the first two featuring my cousins’ 1947 Bedford removal van.
The last photo last photo has a fitter working underneath, don’t think he was run over!

Found some footage of Kern out of Linz, Austria, they seemed to have at least on Scammell Contractor in the fleet, bit odd though, bearing in mind Titan and OAF were just round the corner so to speak… they must have been impressed by the capabilities of the Scammell no doubtFirst batch of pic’s is about transporting a heavy column from Prague to Budapest in the late 50’s or early 60’s I think, not the best quality but it gives you an idea what the job was like back in them days during the winter period…
Does anyone recognise the name on the column? John Thompson Ltd?
Would want a pretty big fire to boil the billy on that job

Slightly off topic but heres the Excavater/face shovel I posted a couple of weeks ago just starting the last leg of its journey to Koolan Island ,I bet the crew were hoping for mill pond conditions all the way.
Cheers Dig

The tides in the Derby area are up to 40 feet a change so the tidal surge is pretty savage so i reckon they have timed that move with kneeps and light wind conditions for the 150 odd kilometres.

0A mighty Scammell! Sure someone will give its model & specifications (engine, box…) and tell its full story…
Johnny, that’s your cue right there pal!
Came across this one a couple of times, the catamaran in question is being loaded on a tilting platform, and they can adjust it to very spectacular angles, all this to get through little villages and such, can image it takes some time to “master” the operation skills for that.
Cheers Oily
