Was Rotran (South African company), now Rotek and Roshcon Logistics Services (http://www.rotekindustries.co.za/aboutrotek/rotekheritage/Pages/default.aspx)1
I came across the following short video clip (only 16 seconds) of Rotran transporting a transformer for ESKOM. Do my eyes, and very limited knowledge, deceive me into thinking that the wagon between 8 and 11 seconds could be a Pacific? It sure looks a great vehicle and in pretty good condition considering it’s age. I was just surprised to see it in amongst the Tractomas. However, I could be wrong (again) and get a tongue lashing from the forum founder, again.

Interesting, some muscle power there for sure!
As for that clip, could be a Pacific indeed, but I’ll leave that with the experts…
No expert but they did have some Pacifics this photo which is as big as I could make it is supposed to be a Pacific but not the one in the video clip.

Cheers DIG, looks odd with that small cab that high up doesn’t it?
Found some footage of Kern out of Linz, Austria, they seemed to have at least on Scammell Contractor in the fleet, bit odd though, bearing in mind Titan and OAF were just round the corner so to speak… they must have been impressed by the capabilities of the Scammell no doubt
First batch of pic’s is about transporting a heavy column from Prague to Budapest in the late 50’s or early 60’s I think, not the best quality but it gives you an idea what the job was like back in them days during the winter period…
Does anyone recognise the name on the column? John Thompson Ltd?
The Kern operation was taken over by that other Austrian giant Felbermayr, it’s a bit vague what happened to the Scammell, best bet is they sold it and it’s still earning it’s keep in some far away place…
.
Some excellent posts on here as usual gents, keep up the good work!

I can only think the cabs are so high to give the operator better vision out the front.
Heres some more that worked in South Africa.
