help on above subject please?
Had a look on heart attack posts, but couldn’t find anything relevent to my question.
(bit of background first) Been off work for 5 months with unrelated illness and started back 2 weeks ago, last monday pulled up to unload
at shop, climbed into trailer and started getting chest pains, giddy, feeling sick, etc. 30 mins later,no probs. Had to see doc. in afternoon
about other illness and told him about morning exp. He said book in for ecg, but if i get any pains to go to a&e. had pains in the evening
and phoned nhs helpline. 15 mins later i’m in hospital and being monitered! they shoved a camera up me arm and had a look, but no stents?
or anything fitted. I was told by consultant i had to inform dvla which i did when they let me out weds, which brings me on to my question,
I was told by dvla that i could not drive car,m.bike for 4 weeks and hgv for 6 weeks.(i live in the sticks,so going stir crazy already!!) Is the ban
from the date i phoned them or do they send me forms to fill in, and is the ban from the time they get forms back?
Apparently, i’ve got “acute coronary syndrome”, anybody else had that and how did they get on with getting the licence back?
Sorry if thats a longwinded post lads, but i got to fill me time in somehow!!
You need to talk to your GP, he can give you permission to drive a car again after an examination, but he may have reservations about the HGV entitlement without sending you for a full exercise medical. He’s the one with all the info to make the decision.
He’ll inform swansea of the situation and his decision, and they may request your notes for a second opinion from their medical expert, but they rarely disagree with the GP.
Good luck.

I have gone through all the treadmill tests and ECG, CT, DVT and MRI scans but as yet am undiagnosed
flapper:
hi fella hope this helps,1 st its up to you to inform dvla of any heart or chest pains
Not strictly correct, your Doctor or Cardiac specialist will advise on whether you are fit to drive, and he/she will decide whether you should inform the DVLA if they think your not fit. In that case they will tell DVLA themselves so as to cover their backside in case you ignore their advice.
Luckily my Doctor trusted me not to drive, and didn’t tell the DVLA, doing it this way meant I was able to return to work as soon as the Cardiac specialist and my GP were happy I was fit, and meant I didn’t have to wait several months to for swansea to respond and reinstate my licence.
After I’d passed the exertion test and was given the green light to drive LGV’s, the DVLA were informed and they merely asked for my medical notes to be forwarded on to their medical consultant who merely concured with my GP and Cardiac man.
