If coming northbound heading to the city centre be careful.
When you see Fowlers motorbike shop on the left, there is three lanes to watch out for.
If you are crossing the river, you need to be in lane three or the far right lane.
As you approach it,the markings give a false impression.
If in lane two(Middle lane),there is a potential to have a crash as the cars push or get squeezed in.
The design is pants.
When at the end or begining of the M32 in both directions,it is 30 mph, even though the signs say you are on a motorway.I have seen unmarked police cars,so to save a fine, watch out.
I think you might want to be a bit clearer on your locations. I’m alright as I know where you mean but to anyone else they’d be hard pressed to know what the hell you’re on about.
ALso , the M32 doesn’t begin until the 60 limit signs as you pass junction 3 (St Pauls) and likewise doesn’t end until you enter the 30 limit heading inbound. Personally I have never seen an unmarked let alone marked car pay the slightest interest to vehicles exceeding the 30 limit once you are passed the Newfounland junction (don’t quote me on that though).

That’s the A4 from Bath just down from the split with the A37 Wells road .towards Temple Meads Railway StationWhen at the end or begining of the M32 in both directions,it is 30 mph, even though the signs say you are on a motorway.I have seen unmarked police cars,so to save a fine, watch out.
The Norm on this is the Mobile Speed Camera on the bridge. The reason for a 30 limit is to allow traffic to flow as in Flow Management, Slows traffic so it flows through the junction better.
By the way YOUR RIGHT the whole lot needs scrapping so many signs and paint on the floor its a mess. I live here and hate Bristol the last time I went into it was a long time ago prob 6 months or so.
The only bridge with a suitable location for camera van is passed J2 (Eastville), well into the 70 NSL.
Got to say I no issues with the road markings on either of the mentioned junctions, all works so long as you pay attention and everyone is in the right lane to start with.
The new 20mph limits on the other hand…

It used to be on Jn 3 but your right they changed the lay out some time back but the speed limit heading out from town and inbound from jn 2 is 60 and has been for a long time unless its changed againGot to say I no issues with the road markings on either of the mentioned junctions, all works so long as you pay attention and everyone is in the right lane to start with.
again its prob been sorted as I hate Bristol nowThe new 20mph limits on the other hand…
Oh yes a real pain and really uncalled for except in the small residential side streets but that would mean more road signs
The 60 zone starts just after the exit ramp for J2.
You are correct. That three lane split opposite Fowlers has changed. The first time i went on it i was positioned in the middle lane. The traffic lights changed to green,a car was behind my trailer by the trailer wheels tooting his horn and gesticulating.
In effect i had blocked him,he had to stop as when you swing round to cross the river before TM train station,i was in the wrong lane.
There is no advanced warning before you get there.
I am surprised there are not crashes everyday.
It is the A4 from Bath.
Thanks for replies.

as normal Toby they squeeze 3 lanes where it would be better with just 2, its just to get as much traffic in an away as quick as possible.
They want to reduce the amount of traffic but make more lanes
Pedestrians must want to be run over.On green lights for traffic they cross the road nowhere near the crossings.
Then they abuse you for not stopping for them.
The Fowlers junction;
Heading downhill from Three Lamos Junction over the railway, you have one bus lane and one traffic lane.
At the end of the bus lane, the traffic lane splits into three lanes plus one cycle lane.
Lane 1 (left turn only)
Cycle lane (all directions)
Lane 2 (ahead only)
Lane 3 (ahead only)
On the island;
Lane 1 (ahead and left turn)
Lane 2 (ahead only)
Lane 3 (ahead and round island)
At the other side of the island, all three lanes go ahead, onto Temple Way which stays as three lanes all the way to the next island which again is three lanes.
Its pretty simple and easy to follow so long as you pay attention to what’s around you and keep in the correct lane as well as be in the correct lane to start with.
