Have you had a good week?

newmercman:
Well I’m on holiday so my week has consisted of sitting on my fat arse or going down the pub, so I can honestly say I’ve had a great week

I was supposed to be going back to Canada on Tuesday, but I’ve got a few personal things to sort out so I’m staying until they’re sorted, got a bit of casual work lined up to keep the bank happy, I’m quite looking forward to driving over here again, but I bet I’m not saying that on Friday after a week of the M25 & Tilbury Docks

so do you switch between uk and canada work as and when  must cost a fortune in air fairs

No I have a very good lifestyle over there & I intend keeping it, my visit to the UK was purely social, I had no intention of ever driving over here again, but ■■■■ happens, I need to stick around for a while so I’ve postponed my return flight, I may be here a month or so & can’t afford to sit around doing nothing

No mate & if I could get such a ‘flitting’ arrangement I’d be flitting off to a Caribbean beach, not SE London in January :open_mouth:

thought i was having a crap week until i read yer story doyoumeanme…!!!

had to fork out for a new clutch on me car … (toyota !!!Bloody expensive)…anyway gives it to the garage and then they phone about an hour later … tells me the bloody duel mast flywheel is humped … phones around to be robbed again…(toyota… bloody expensive)…
anyway gets it sorted and sent to the garage…

then gets a call form one of my mates…

“is your mum ok…■■”…

“what you talking about…■■”

“Her house is up in flames”

wot the {zb}…■■

anyway gets there there… fire engines outside smoke everywhere and ambulances blue lights on…

turns out my mother who lives in a semi-detached disabled bungalow… the guy next doors house had an explosion… my older brother who lives with my mother rushed in to the burning house and resuced the guy who is in a wheel chair and got him out… the old guy is still in the hospital now as i type this… my brother was let out after a hour with minor smoke inhalation… the guys big rotweiler dog perished in the fire…
my old mum was fine she was with my wife picking up the kids from school…

the guys house is completly destroyed… my old mums house thankfully was untouched… :open_mouth: :open_mouth: the firemen told us that the firewall had done its job well…

the moral of the story is … Toyota is bloody expensive the parts cost me £796.00 … :imp: and thats not including the labour costs… :imp:

Glad your Mum’s OK. Personally, I think you had a good week; cars are replaceable, Mums aren’t!!

DoYouMeanMe?:
Dual mass is a bloody rip off. Why don’t they just revert to a standard flywheel. (well, because they are making a fortune out of them I suppose)

Glad your mum’s OK. Must be terrifying when next door goes bang.

dual mass flywheels are useless. every time you need a clutch done, the DMF is buggered. There is a company that does a conversion that uses a normal flywheel, though its only available for some toyotas. one of my customers had theirs converted, the car drives much better but its a bit jerky until you get used to the clutch again (theres no damping effect like youd get with a DMF). If it makes you feel any better, one guy has spent £6000 on parts alone getting his air conditioning fixed on his landcruiser :unamused: .

Though i dont know what the future will bring, we just got bought out by Motorline group (they own 20 dealers in kent & sussex). Considering taking voluntary redundancy if its offered, and actually get a proper job because the motor trade is full of bull crap.

I can’t remember when I’ve spent that much buying a car…

And I’m whinging at spending £50 on a new (2nd hand) heater matrix for my old rover. (I didn’t realise how good the heater was until it went ■■■■ up…it was bloody freezing in the car this morning)

think this is turning into a Toyoata parts forum here …lol…

last year my Air-con pump went ■■■■■■■ up…Me being a tight Scottish git… :sunglasses: :sunglasses: … i just by-passed it with a smaller Belt … saving me £3500…

Who Says the Scots are tight…

Don’t buy second hand rads or heater matrix if they have been stood empty. The water is acidic and if it has evaporated away, only the water evaporates and the solution gets stronger and stronger and eats through all the joints. You usually end up replacing it again a couple of months later when if fails big time…

In a word no, blown tyres on a trailer in the yard I can deal with as its one of those things but the second thing that happened Im not even going to post about…
