Strong winds have battered South Yorkshire overnight (Wednesday / Thursday) - uprooting trees across the county and leading to dangerous driving conditions.
Firefighters were called out to the M1 motorway between Junctions 31 at Aston and 30 at Barlborough at 5.45am today (Thursday) after a lorry was blown over and ended up down a banking. The lorry driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to climb out of his windscreen when firefighters removed the glass. He escaped unharmed.
Several trees have blown over and closed some roads in the Sheffield and Woodhead areas.
Tell me about it, trying to sleep last night with an empty double decker on wasn’t pleasant. I’m right out in the open as well so I dropped the trailer and parked between some buses. Didn’t really make much difference though, terrible night sleep.
That bean casserole our lass made last night for tea, has caused some problems.
Ken.
i parked at newark last night. windy but bearable, the journey to bradford though this morning was less than enjoyable!
when’s it going to drop?
Its all them bacteria buckets you keep stopping at
Was pulling a decker last night down the A1 from the north, my sphincter had plenty of exercise, after all it is not designed for that amount of twitching !! was down to 30mph at some points, done plenty of decker work in the past and never had a rough ride like last night before…
On the a16 this morning and it was very windy, kept blowing my side spoiler out then would go in when i came off round abouts lol.
Funny you’re all talking about deckers because you dont see many if any deckers getting blown over!
We are supposed to get a iso message when it goes 60+ then park up, it was 90mph in tayside on Tuesday wonder if my message got lost?
You honestly cant win with this ‘‘drivers decision’’ you don’t carry on and another driver does and makes it you look like a ■■■, then when you do go over like a guy in my depot they say why didn’t you stop!

how strange, that is exactly what happened to me today!!! Gust of wind blew it out then it popped back in. Never happened before.
Was parked in Lockerbie last night and it was horrendous! So was the wind. Boomtish!
As Merc said, you don’t see many Deckers blown over…but a fee burn out on the M6 for some reason
My little rigid was like a rag doll in the wind.
Was rather interesting over the 62 last night. Mind you it was worse coming back at 7 - 8am. I’m on regular nights now pulling Olaf trailers to Immingham in a plain white R series

It was bloody windy on that road, enough to make me slow down to 40, thought it was going in the ditch a few times.

Was that you in Cobham Services yesterday?
I normally pull fridges on supermarket work, but had to run a load over to Wakefield on a curtainsider today. First time I’ve really dealt with curtains, talk about baptism by fire…
