One here for Bibs.spotted on the dreaded ebay.
Thanks to Ken Ludlam for this, a classic pic from Carnforth based Haulier Alan Thompson, tidy old F88.
Thanks “dew” for the photograph of Alan Thompsons Volvo. To
update , here
s a photo of one of the current fleet.
The fleet colours have been retained from G.R. Bargh ,- the hauliers business Alan bought in the early 1970
s.
Only the name , etc., differs from the photo of the Albion I posted earlier this month.
(Thanks to "oiltreader for enlarging the photo)
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Capsticks from White Lund. The Seddon Atkinson was a demonstrator when new with a
steel tipper body on it. I had it for a week and put some miles on it. The Volvo had a
previous owner too judging by the number plate.
John Dainty from Forton. The unit caught me by surprise in Aberdeen.
Dainty’s, now there’s a company with a very, interesting history lol.
Apparently they still operate although on a much smaller scale and using incognito wagons.

Carnforth-based Alan Thompson`s Scania 6 wheeler is seen here at Crooklands Auction Mart.
The Scania is fitted with one of the latest designs of the Houghton-Parkhouse livestock bodies.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
The same Scania , this time coupled to a shortened semi-trailer to form a centre-axled drawbar trailer.
Advance apologies if the photograph appears small. I can`t reproduce the photo size when scanning from a 6" x 4" photo.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Welcome to TruckNet . Your contributions and photographs will always be welcome on any thread.
I often used to deliver livestock to R.P. Winder`s slaughterhouse in Morecambe, and I can remember the Scania 6 wheeler
and the M.A.N. artic. The Scania driver had dark hair a black beard , - was he your father ?
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
