HATO Control Room Jobs

Derf:
Will I get to write rude words on the overhead matrix boards?

Not if you want to keep your job.

NewLad:
It’s more than I’m on now for less hours (5.5 hrs a week less) “easier” work (not manual labour) and more holiday entitlement by 12 days sounds good to me.

Think what a battery chicken lives like, then 1/2 the conditions and your about right for an RCC working environment.

I see the jobs have gone public because they cannot get ANYONE/ENOUGH to transfer in. As you know Biffo don’t most people train up and slide off to other organisations control rooms where the pay is better ?

The Highway Man:

mickyblue:
Which control room you based at then? South Mimms

I’m not based at any control room, I’m an on road NW HATO

Are you sure your not just based in the services :smiling_imp:

Or would it be the butty van layby :smiling_imp:

Shhh!!! dont give my secrets away!!!

What about the real bifffo lol

about £300 per week after tax. not worth a toss.

No mention in the job description about turning the bloody matrix signs off when the incident is over - explains a lot :imp: :imp:

Or putting the word “fog” when you can only see 20 yards in front of you anyway - real helpful!

What’s the need for a CRB check?
I thought they were introduced to stop paedophiles working with children?

mickyblue:

Same as me.

Nothing to do with us I’m afraid. The matrix have fog sensors which automatically turn them on, then they go faulty and it’s a nightmare trying to get them switched off, It took a few days to get the engineer out to turn the last lot of faulty ones on my patch.

What’s the question Micky? If it’s about sickness I can tell you to within a day how many I’ve had off in over 7 years. I’ve had numerous “congratulation” letters for 100% annual attendance.

Next time it happens, ring me if i’m in, I can switch them off! (one or two others can, but we darned tell all the lot how to do it)

I see a flaw in that shift pattern …
Its crap

Nick, you’re not wrong!

In that case then the sensors on shap are ■■■■■■ as they weren’t showing it all and visibility was down to about 2 cats eyes.

Yes, but he’s on the quiet bit of M6, chasing sheep & deer. (And not always on the motorway!! )

these are the ones that Highway man is on about, around J37. They were stuck on showing “FOG” the fault had been put onto the engineers request on the system, no-one knew how to manually switch them off, until I was in so I switched them off to await the man with the screwdriver & hammer.
I can switch them back on in the morning, but they’ll probably stick again. Which option would you guys like??

Tbh I find the “fog” message a bit of a no brainer really as if it’s bad enough to trigger it, then people can pretty much work out that it’s foggy. The big overhead gantries ok, but the little matrix signs are un needed.

Since I’ve moved teams, I appear to working the same shift pattern as you biffs as I hear your dulcet tones in the control room every time I’m on duty.

Highway Man, not based at Crooklands are you? Going to have to keep my eyes open in case I’m being spied on
