Has anyone started their next D.C.P.C.?

Done 21hrs getting really bored of it now,
worse still im a limper & im having to pay for it (well setting it against tax)

We do 7 hours per year.

No. My employer will pay for it. Maybe the last week before the deadline, but they will…

2 x 7s so far

1 was first aid so didn’t mind so much as I felt that was useful

Harry Monk:
No, I don’t plan to do it, I’ll just pack the job in instead. There is no way I am going to spend another £350 and another week in a classroom learning what type of driving licence I would need to ride a moped or drive an invalid carriage. The whole thing is a complete and total con designed to provide employment for otherwise unemployable DCPC trainers who, in the massive majority of cases, have never done the job and do not have a clue what they are talking about. If there truly was a driver shortage, then we wouldn’t be expected to have to sit through this ■■■■■■■■.

■■■■■■■■ sums it up well…total cr@p by so called trainers who have probably never done a days driving…

red7jase:
14 in. 7 of which was about how to ride a push bike. :unamused:

Around London by any chance?

Mine doesn’t run out until 2024   so not bothering just yet

I’m okay until 2023 so I’ll not bother doing another just yet.

Well said Harry.

My thoughts exactly.

Done 2 x 7hours. Our place does them on a Saturday (paid of course).

Some good banter and general mucking about.
Last one we coloured another driver in with Biro and someone nobbled me flask with a custard cream.
Apparently I’m a bad influence.

Short of having me finger up a classmate it’s like being back at school. Oh well there’s still time.

Rocester but yes based on London. Safe urban driving. Course by TFL.

Teaching hgv drivers how a bike should be correctly rode. All it does is clarify what we already thought about the ■■■■ cycle riders we contend with on the road.

Sort of, I did a 3 day (transport managers) CPC refresher which counted as two days towards my DCPC. Just before deadline my ADR runs out again so rest will be covered by that

Got 21 hours with my adr a couple of years ago. I’m waiting for one of the rogues to set up again, so I can get the other 14 done in about 6 hours

I have at least 21 possibly 28 but cannot remember now, but the company as it all in hand, well hopefully anyway.

Not done any of mine yet, but my company sorts it out and pays(bus driver).

I must admit, I approached CPC with an open mind and thought I may learn something, but 99% was complete rubbish and no one ever failed it.
I wonder how many of the ‘won’t do it’ drivers actually did’nt and left the trade.

I don’t know of any drivers but I know a few fitters that didn’t bother. Then when an easy number comes up of taking a truck for inspection or service or to another depot they rue not doing it. Sometimes they could blag ‘roadtest’ but company policy is no DQC = no drive.
As a new pass I approached it with an open mind too. I almost enjoyed it, but that was because of the teacher. As a transport consultant he knows lots more than I do, and he’d done the job. Normally listening to someone’s tales of derring-do in a trans-continental are yawn material, but it was a lot more interesting than sitting rigid all day being told how pushbikes are always right and trucks are always wrong.

Yes. Done my first 7 hours of the block due in 2019 a couple of weeks back… Next block won’t be until next year now as I understand it. The firm does them in January when it’s quiet, and when it’s easy to get agency cover for the vacated duty for the day. Makes sense.

Yes, done 14 hours. Company pays (in house trainers) and done during the normal working week.

I,m 60 this year all done up to 2019 think i will wait and see what happens as i have heard rummours that it is going to be scrapped as the Belgians and
French are not doing it the Germans didn’t even start it only our stupid Government doing what Brussel’s says so here’s hoping getting out of the EU we wont have to.
I couldn’t care less been on the road long enough now with nothing to show for it spent enough hours sitting in traffic jams mabey it’s time to put on the parking brake for good.

Done 7 hours when I got my grab ticket. What annoys me apart from actually having to do the dcpc is the fact that the gobby driver who rants about it before the course, will interrupt umpteen times instead of reading the paper he brought.
I don’t want to hear peoples’ experiences of “the middle east” or “that gobby security guard” and I don’t get why people argue with the trainer. Tell me a load of untrue stuff about adblue being pigs urine and it being law to spend 15 minutes doing checks. Everyone just nod and say nothing.
