Halcyon Tankers

Halcyon Tankers today announced the acquisition of Groupe Samat UK

Halcyon nee Hargreaves, nee Imperial Tankers. Well done Ian, your company is a shining example of how to do it the right way; excellent treatment of staff, excellent rates of pay and continuous investment in people and equipment.

I will have second that my old mate, I am happy to be one of the ‘three musketeers’, onwards and upwards for the best boss I worked for.

Totally agree my friend. I’ve had two fantastic bosses, Brian Rosier being the first, and Ian being the second. The rest were a bit “meh”.

just being nosey, why are you not still working for him… locality etc…

I’m living 150 miles away from them or I’d be back like a shot mate.

I am GXO at the moment mate and I plan to work here until retirement tbh, however, if they agreed to outbase a truck in my locale I’d go back like a shot. GXO are more than fine, but the children in the office attempting to get a pint into a half pint glass ■■■■ me off somewhat.

Samat driver this side, I must admit it took us totally out of the blue after an email from our general manager. Does anyone know if they have a union recognition agreement?

No idea Paul, it was back in Imperial days when I worked for them, but the boss at the time is the same guy who founded Halcyon positively encouraged a union presence and union participation at all levels, so it’s probably looking hopeful for you.

Just to add; in the past when they’ve acquired companies with better T’s & C’s than them they’ve let them keep them, and companies with worse pay and conditions have immediately been brought up to their level.

Tbh if I was in your shoes I’d sleep soundly.

Thanks very much.

I must update you on this. I will be resigning on Monday along with 11 drivers, one planner and one office staff member. They’re trying their very best to ‘chisel away’ at the union recognition agreement that we had at Samat. There’s a host of other things that have gone on lately which I won’t go into as I’m still officially employed by them. Samat was a great company to work for, sadly with all of these changes I’m off!

That’s a shame Paul. Obviously things change over time but this from you is definitely not good news.

I wish you and your colleagues luck moving forward mate.
