H & R Transport Diary

Enjoy BC Taff, it is absolutely stunning, without doubt the most beautiful place in North America :sunglasses:

Watch out for the turbanators and the pear heads though, they’re bloody lethal :unamused:

Passed up through Crowsnest yestday on way back from Washington and it was breath taking apart from the a$$holes on the road lol

taffytrucker:

Ha ha … Mick you continue to crack me up you old tart

Yea its a truck route garmin pat they had couple there to choose from . Made over the rockies fine one of the best places to drive good roads and the view out the window is out standing. Can get here from Lethbridge just in your 13 hrs drive but it hell of a push, good job not UK speeds and driving laws lol 3 drops pick up a loaded and back over ready for 3 days in the classroom.

I’m pleased its going so well for you. You’ve had a cracking first trip there by the sounds of it and you seem to be really enjoying it.

Hey Taffy, and the rest of you, don’t watse money on satelite radio if you have a smart phone with a data package. If you go to Facebook apps, look for ‘mobile apps’ then ‘Music’ find ‘Tune in’ app and send it to your phone, you can get any station on earth, I listen to Steve Wright in the sfternoon now (in the morning of course). I have installed radio 1, 2, 3, 4 and 4 comedy.

Had tune in for a while now and it is good but it can’t replace Sirius. The internet coverage is good in the East but very patchy west of the mid west states especially prairie states, rocky mountain states and desert areas not to mention all of Canada.

Yeah, Canada is a problem for those of us on Verizon, no data up here unless you want to pay a bloody fortune, so Sirius is a must have

Glad to see you are progressing nicely there Taffy.
Keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Pat I thought I was the odd one out listening to the BBC on NPR day and night, radio 1- 4 wow.

Well guys just got back from BC as I said it is a great drive over the rockies. To start with I was bit worried about it to start but not that different from T Alps or Swiss give the road bit of respect but not to much and take your time, if it says brake check then stop do your checks and just take it easy after couple mins even was down to using the gears and the trailer brake to keep my speed down.

Got 3 days orientation now then off to Texas leaving friday.

H&R so far as I can see is like any other big company you will get problems with reloads etc and maybe a small wait for details but as I said they have been treated me just fine and I not had any problems with anyone and so far I would recomend it to anyone who is thinking about it

The above is my own personal experience do not sue my ■■■ if you don’t like it or end up going back home for some reason lol ( that’s my get out clause  )

NPR in the north east is ok for BBC from midight to 6.00am but then it goes off, also you have to keep re-tuning when you are on the move, recently I put one NPR channel on iheart radio but that was before I found tunein.

Taffy, the last time I drove through Texas it was a bright and sunny day, I stopped at the TA in Sweetwater TX for fuel and a shower and when I came out it was a blizzard

It seems bad weather and luck follow you pat so let’s hope you’re no that way next week lol we had a truck n trailer blown over down there so I gotta take the hire unit down with a load on the reefer deliver change into the now repaired unit and that should be my unit full time then we do a lot from that way back upto Toronto so a nice 2 week trip for me back to Lethbridge along highway 3 through Onterio. The guys who come along just after me are plodding along nicely. One passed driving test today waiting for phone call for mentor trip, 2 of the other boys have got tests this week and the other 1 is irish so let’s not go there lol. Not expecting anymore new guys out just yet as the next round of interviews start soon

Are there any other companys hiring besides H&R ■■?Everyone seems to go to them

Yes lots do your homework & find them, I was talking to an H&R employee the other day He told Me they have brought in excess of 2000 recruits so far & have retained 500, if this is true its a shocking statistic really.

Eh ! there’s nowt wrong with the Irish. We have two guys who run into our terminal regularly from Indiana to collect Molasses, and one of them is well known by a few on here, he used to drive for Ipec.
My phone just scared the poop out of me by screaming a loud siren :open_mouth: Yurns out it was a severe weather warning … Thats a new one.
