H & R Transport Diary

Well Done Taffy no doubt a few shandy’s will be consumed tonight, what part of Wales are you from I’m from Cardiff there’s another repubate from wrexham, there’s quite a few of us knocking about here.

cliffystephens:
well aint you ■■■■■■■■ mr newmercman… from another taff…

I most certainly am Taff :sunglasses:

The purpose of my post was to explain the difference between the tests in the UK and Canada :bulb: It also contained some banter between myself and your fellow sheep shagging countryman, so please don’t be offended by my comments, I hate every race, creed and colour the same, it’s not personal

Being as ■■■■■■■■ as I am, I could’ve taken mine in a one of those mahoosive dumper trucks and still passed, as I’m really that good, I could’ve probably done it blindfolded, but that would just be showing off

taffytrucker:
But hey good news its offical I can go and terroize the residents of USA and Canada I just passed my class 1  happy days. Cant exchange my liecence over till tues though because of the bank holiday over here so I got the weekend off to get last few bits sorted out then off I go. Hope to bump into a few of you guys on my travels.

Brilliant news driver, well done, see you down the road somewhere

I expect a diary of your first trip too

Well done that man

And who might you be referring to

Well done Taff, but don’t let your mentor use you as a team driver just to earn extra brass and get back to base quick. See you on the road for a beer.

OHH BOYO!! Cymru am byth! Lechyd da a pob Iwc!..

Duck:

Yeah … what he said

wow duck actually sounded educated then lol and thanks guys yes a few shandy was sunk in honour last night as 2 of us passed test on the same day.

The standard of the test between UK and Canada is massive. In the UK its like yea you can hitch a trailer up and go round the block a few times after your instructor has taught you how to drive the route over here its like ok so this is how your air brake system works but what happens if this fails and what happens here etc etc etc. The training company actually had a mock air system complete with compresser set up in the classroom they go into it in a lot more depth but that is part i think to the fact still a good few years behind in kit as in only now self adjusting brakes are become near on basic on most trailers and if you get disc brakes you should be honoured lol

OWWWW!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: LOW BLOW!!

Cue Welsh accent: “If your wonderin’ what’s occurin’ boyo, I’ve got a Welsh name so I have…My primary school teacher moved across the bloody border from the valleys and started teaching me “Cymraeg” for some reason so she did…”
Always used to get told “Twll din pob Sais” if I was a naughty boy :stuck_out_tongue:

Eventually got a scholarship at Worksop college, [zb] knows what happened though, hated the other kids and teachers… Ended up being a steering wheel attendant, OOOPS!!

Anyway, get some photos posted ASAP you cheeky sod!! :grimacing:

Nice one Driver…safe travels…

what bothers me is the way it is assumed that nobody does nothing …when i started 40years ago if you didntlearn basics you didnt get home not may places for callouts etc. ajust own brakes filters in cab i could go on …

I don’t give a toss what the rules say there is no way I am gonna lay down under a trailer or truck and check the adjustments on brakes, if some DOT cop wants to get under there in the crap and find fault he can do so and give me a ticket. When I do a pre-check the nearest I get to that is checking the air hoses are not touching and even then it’s just a visual check and if needs be a zip tie solves that.

I would have thought you would have self adjusting brakes on yours Pat?? dont think you have discs just yet as its about 20 yrs behind over here on things like that lol

Ha ha … as you have discovered the US is years behind with things like that. DOT would be confused by disc brakes on a truck  We don’t even have suspension that lifts as well as lowers
Remember it’s not just trucks, it cars also … Ford UK put quick clear windscreens in cars in the late 90’s in the UK but my first job here was a salesman for the main Ford dealer, they didn’t believe me when I told them and they also didn’t believe me when I told them the ‘New’ Focus had been on sale in Europe for 2 years

Now that’s random :open_mouth:

I assume you’re trying to make a point about something

Many of us on here have driven old crap to far off lands, that meant that we had to skin a few knuckles to get home again, even rookies like taffytrucker  have a working knowledge of an air brake system, so you may be preaching to the choir here, we agree with you

think the point is you guys all seem to think that you have all gone 3steps up the ladder when in fact we are “all” still driving lorries the mind boggles…

cliffystephens:

So do you have a point

Or are just here to ■■■■ and moan because people are happy about their jobs  (except for Pat, of course )

Yeah, we all drive lorries, the whole trucknet thing is kind of about that :open_mouth: Yeah we’re happy about it :open_mouth: Some of us have gone right up to the top of our respective ladders, some of us have taken a few steps down, but whatever the case, I can’t see why it would boggle your mind, perhaps you could explain
