Love it Dennis,conisuer,LOL!!!
David
David, that’s how it’s spelt in Morecambe.
Smiths of Maddiston spell it conniseur on the back of their 8LXB Guy Big J’s.
Retired Old ■■■■:
Like young Bewick I would like to see a photo of the back of the cab, but I’ve a feeling that Evans’ Guy did have a 240 in from new.
That was definitely one of the forty 8LXB Big J’s that were made Casey. 39 went to Smiths of Maddiston and this one went to an oil company in Scotland. M A Evans bought it off Chaddesley Commercials from Kidderminster when it was six months old.
Cheers Dave.
Leyland 680:
This is a Gardner 240 badged and definitely a 240 air cleaner on this GUY 0
Who’s side are you’s on son ? No doubt about it Frank this Big J had a 240LXB engine, but Smith of Maddiston had the other 39! now that is a total load of bollox as it’s doubtful only a handful of Guys were ever built using the 240 engine, plus the fact there hasn’t been ONE side view shot of a Big J with the 240 engine.Anyhow, how many 8LXB Atkis did Bradys/Athersmiths run ? was it just the usual six ? and don’t get carried away with “double vision” and “Brady multiplication” Cheers Dennis.
Ok, let’s put this one to bed- Who’s got access to the build lists? Valkyrie, gingerfold, anorak? Someone must be able to settle it once and for all.
But then again, we’d lose an excuse to wind up the ■■■■■■■■ sheetmeister!
Mike Holloway drove this for M A Evans when this pic was taken. Les Sutton who is over retiring age ,but still drives for A Evans, drove this Big J when Roy Edwards bought it.
Cheers Dave.

Your just re-stating what was requested a long while ago ROF, Trev H used to go into the Guy works regularly at around the time these “mysterious beasts” would be on “the line” and he has never seen one, neither had the other Guy Apprentices that Trev went to tech college with This quest is similar to that of “The Bin Laden”, the 500 Euro note, everyone knows there is one but no-one has ever seen one Cheers Bewick.

You hold the key, Dan!
We wait with baited breath.
Is your face turning red ROF or is that your usual complexion, nurse, nurse!! fetch the oxygen and quick the silly old bugger is going to flake out before the Big J turns up ! Bewick.
This is my 73 year old uncle he has run his share of Guys over the years ,at the time Guy shut he was very friendly with Guy MDs and bought new ex factory parts and lorries for some of them with cash as they weren’t allowed to do this then they’d be sold on ,it may take some time to get this info ,however saviem could shed some light as he lives near one of them.
