LOL Dave,is he only a young 'un? Well if so,he will have more neet out money stashed away than me - all of his dodgys ont Sunset Penkridge. Anyroad that motor is a Big J,my pal says so and that’s it. Dennis and Harry are outnumbered, they will admit it and invite us to a big party at Midland Hotel Morecambe to apologise. Get ready…lol

looks like a seddon

Chris Webb:
Took me ages to find this thread so I could resurrect it. A nice Scottish driver allowed me to post this photo of a Guy Big J. Ok it’s not a side on shot but the two back pots can be clearly seen. I thought maybe it would 'appen calm every bugger down int North West (and another from Co Durham),yer know, the disbelievers.
If this photo doesn’t cure t’problem I’ll be ont neet ferry to Heysham and buy t’Mayor of Morecambe a drink.

It’s April 1st again!

But a real practical joker would have used photoshop to- a) remove the top-mounted wipers that are clearly visible through the rear window and b) move those silly high-mounted air filters.
IT’S A SEDDON!
But I do believe that Guy supplied a limited number of 240 Big Js.

The picture is a Seddon, Big J’s had the diesel tank on the drivers side.

Well, worth a try.

Chris Webb:
Well, worth a try.

The Mayor of Morecambe will be along shortly to put ya right Mr. Webb

Well i dont know if it is a seddon , but i do know i want to come to the party…

Cheers hic hic.

Dead right Trev, here’s a shot of a Seddon 32/4 showing quite clearly the same air tanks in the same position as that rear that rear shot of those two Seddons shot in the Woodstock factory at Oldham we fitted an extra derv tank between the air tanks and the rear mudguard :unamused: I’ll have a butchers for a chassis shot of a Big J as I’m certain the main derv tank filled the O/s chassis side on the Big J.I’ve booked Mr.W. into the Presidential suite of the Midland Hotel to-morrow night, now that will make a hole in his ill gotten “Dodgy night fund” and he won’t even get a “parking ticket” so as to claim back half a Dollar when he gets back on the Island :frowning: Cheers Dennis.

Well I never drove a Big J or a Seddon in those days being an AEC man but it looks like a Big J to me and that’s good enough. Anyroad it’s livened things up a bit Trev and we are getting closer… :grimacing:

5thwheel:
I can confirm that the SoM life boat loaded Big J tractor unit,is not powered by a 240 Percy, due to the length of the 240 engine, the front of the unit had to be extended by about 65mm,close study of the unit in question reveals the front is flush fitted.

I drove a 240 Percy for SoM Manchester,as some of the TNUK members will know,I await any comments from Dennis.

David

I know they existed and this member drove one.
Cheers Dave.

Evening Dennis, nice to hear from yer. The photo was put on in good faith and who am I to argue with a Mayor and Councillor?
Won’t be able to make Midland Hotel tomorrow 'cos of low tides in Morecambe Bay so please don’t meet me int car park at Heysham, and anyroad me neet out money has gone,I’m just a poor wee pensioner like most folk on here.

Yours,

Anoniom

Clock the Derv tank :unamused: ,factory fitted, and filling the O/S Chassis on the Big J’s.

DAVE THE RENEGADE,

If the party is on let me know and i will call by you and pick you up on my way from Carmarthen…
