Gtg training in glasgow

New to this.

Has anyone done Lgv
C class 2 training with GTG training company in Glasgow?.
Just passed my theory.

Have people passed 1st time after 5 days training, having never driven anything bigger than a car before?

I am signed up with clearstone.!!.. have just read about them.

if its a 1on 1 instruction, you should be ok. obviously this depends on how receptive you are to the training but 35 hours or so at the wheel sounds about average. take your time, listen to what you are told and concentrate on what you are doing BY THE BOOK! as my instructor told me, you have to spend a few days doing it by the book and once you have the pass certificate, you can pick up your bad habits again

When it comes to the test, as it has been said over and over on this site

" Give the examiner a smooth ride "

Although the test last about an hour it will be over in a flash.

hi keny are you a forklift driver just now

Kenny, didn’t do my driver training with GTG,but did hi-ab training with them, which was very well done and with good kit.
The other 2 guys on the hi-ab course had done driver training with them and rated them pretty highly.
The LGV courses are based on a 2:1 pupil to instructor ratio, if you wanted 1:1 training it could be accomodated, though it would be more expensive.
GTG use the test centre at Bishopbriggs for their LGV tests and the 2 guys mentioned before, say the test routes are difficult. Both of them took 2 or 3 goes each to pass their Class 2.
Best of luck.

where did you do your class 2 training since I gather you are from glasgow area?

I passed both C and C+E first time, each time after 4 days’ training (training Mon-Thurs, test on Fri). I’d driven minibuses and transits before, but nothing on the scale of the 18t rigid I learned in.

My instructor said that it’s often the ones that have done lots of 7.5t driving before that have all the difficulty, as they’ve got lots of bad habits to un-learn.

If you listen to your instructor and do what they say, that will give you the best chance. In some ways, it also comes down to a bit of luck on the day as well.

Personally, I don’t necessarily go with this “1:1 is better” philosophy. When you’re running on a 2:1 basis, you don’t get as tired (and you don’t learn anything when you’re tired), you get the chance to watch the other driver and analyse his behaviour to think what you would have done differently (which you can’t do 1:1), and there’s a bit more moral support and cameraderie between the two of you, so you don’t get quite so depressed when you make mistakes, as you see that the other guy is doing it as well

Thanks for your comments.
My class 2 is on a 2:1 basis, its a 5 day course, been referred to GTG who I have been told are good. Clearstone have referred me so I hope all goes well !!
I am on a fastrack 2 day course next week, have you heard of that course for new drivers?
I have an assessment in an 18 ton a week on Sat, looking forward to getting out on the road now my theory is passed and behind me. 28 years behind a desk - life and pensions industry, need out desperately. complete career change.

From Edinburgh side.
Did my training down in Gala.
Had a bit of trouble trying to get a Hi-ab course, that’s how I ended up going to GTG in Glasgow.
You wouldn’t be trying to get out of The C.I.S. by any chance would you?

I work for resolution plc -formerly abbey - right in the city centre.
