Who remembers the good days at Greenore Ferry Services on Preston Docks?
There were some good lads down there then shunting the OWENRO Flag ship of the
company. No doors windows on our shunters like the posh lot up the dock N.I.Ts
Ulster Ferry kept us all supplied with eggs for are butties.

There were no twist locks on the ferry flats then.
Jack bowen Bill ward.Auther and Jack aspden.Gordon my old pal who was the other
driver.Everyone then all done a bit of shunting of the boats that came in from Greenore in
Ireland.Turning round as quick as we couldFred catherwood was the foreman then Mr Arnold was the Boss.John Foley was in charge of the custms
side of it Matin Jump if I remember he went and started his own company,Jamie hamilton also went on his own a few years after
Another driver called Ronnie Durran came from Bakers o stonehouse in Glocestershire now he was a man and half Last count was twelve children
long story that was.We had them all there Mad Jack he was another great bloke,And the star of them all was lavender Joe Never stopped (■■■■■■■)
Jack kinsella he was given the job of hunting down the bacon,And we all new who the supplier of that was.Anglo Irish was down ther at are end
of the dock aswell before Ferry masters moved in also charlie french who became so called yard man (yarn=man) more like.

Great photos keep em coming. :sunglasses:

think this man who loaded this left a bit.
Many a time load was a bit dodgy so Mr arnold sent for the heavy gang.
Jimmy Farmer- and my old friend Ronnie Foster (The Jackdaw) who was
one of the many friends I met when I Emigrated from L/pool to Preston.
Who ended up being my best man when I was captured.(Chris Miller heavy gang)
