This is my first message in the forum (hello everyone!!), sorry if my English is not proper, is not my native tongue.
I want to ask you about a GPS: I already have a 7" Android tablet that I can use as GPS but before purchase a software, I have some doubts.
Android apps:
What is your opinion about Sygic Truck app, it’s not cheap (£109 for 3 years of Europe maps updates, I think traffic updates are not included), but is a good option?
What about Aponia? Around £45 for Europe+Russia Navteq maps (I can’t find the duration of licence).
GPS devices:
I’ve read in a lot of post that cheap eBay truck GPS are a good option for everyday use. The cons, this devices doesn’t have traffic updates, are the traffic updates really important?
So, is it worth to pay the £109 for the Sygic app (or £45 for Aponia) and use my own tablet or buy a cheap eBay GPS?
Looking at the reviews for the phone/tablet based apps I would rather try the cheap ebay offerings first, its £30 or £40 so if it lasts a year its no great loss.

Id go with aponia its a lifetime licence and at least yearly map up dates if your on android have a look at copilot truck as it has a few more options. Another to consider is mapfactor £50 for eu truck maps all the above have the maps stored on the device or sd card
Those cheap Tablets are what they say they are, cheap hardware from like 2010, 128MB ram please my phones got more then that.
What I did was brought a amazon fire tablet flashed it with a custom rom and rolling Sygic which I pirated works a treat. I was leaning towards these cheap things too, till I spoke with a guy at our work hes got one of those goddy 7in things says it is okay. I asked him about the maps and updates, he said there isn’t an update.
And after using the trail version of sygic on my phone for 2 weeks, its a really good app altho I had one issue with it all that 10 days I used it. Tried to take me down a 3.5t weight limit though an housing estate to avoid the busy roads. These can be easliry updated tho as they use tomtom maps.
So instead of getting a usless tablet I’ve ended up with an andriod tablet that can play all your games, watch your movies and read your books, whilst your waiting to tip and is a pretty much top notch sat nav too.
I had to buy a universal mount tho as it doesn’t come with one.
