jammymutt:
DD you ask them to support something in this country and they dont seem to be interested but support and advertise something about EU driving they WILL support it and put info on it.
That might be perfectly true jammymutt, I wouldn’t argue that point, but I only picked up on the word “campaign.”
As I said, in this particular case, IMHO I don’t see any sign of a campaign.
What I did see was a person who has organised a petition to ask some questions and another asking for information. If you follow the links, and read the info, do you honestly call these things a “campaign”■■
If what has happened up to now meets any reasonable definition of the word “campaign,” then I’ll stand corrected and say so publicly.
As I asked earlier, do you honestly think that this, as it stands, is a “campaign”■■
I did Euro tramping for 10 years, and a fair number of my journeys involved France, so there but for the grace of God go I. It was always at the back of my mind that I could be accused of something that had nothing to do with me. I’d happily agree that this country has a justice system that might be lacking in certain areas, but have you any idea of the way that the French system works??
It goes something like this:
- Something dodgy is found. (The trailer might even have a seal already in place before you collect it.)
- You get carted off to jail.
- There isn’t a shred of evidence, or any kind of proof that you knew anything, or did anything wrong. (By UK standards.)
- You stay in jail.
- E v e n t u a l l y, you get to know how long you’ll have to stay there.
- An appeal is usually “unwise.”
TBH jammymutt, and for all its faults, I was always glad to be back on UK soil. Have you done Europe, do you agree??
I don’t know whether you’ve followed the links and read the info, but please spend a few minutes to do so, then you’ll at least have an informed opinion as to whether this consitutes a “campaign.” We might even agree on that point-- who knows??
Does it concern you that one of our own is banged-up and might just be innocent??
(As we in the UK understand the word “innocent.”)
So far, I have signed a petition that now meets the criteria to get some questions asked in the right quarters. If I thought that this forum was a campaigning forum, I wouldn’t have joined in the first place.
jammymutt:
And like it says and we sometimes choose to support these can the future of our industry and its support REALLY be picked and chosen by one guy and his ,woman??.
I’m not sure that your question is entirely fair, since this forum is only one of several. The owners have rules, and they’ve appointed Rikki as the manager. Even with the power that he has, I doubt that Rikki has “the future of our industry” in his hands. As you know, he’s supported by Admins and Mods of which “his, woman” is one. There’s clearly published rules, which are subject to change due to circumstances. If there ever came a time, after reasonable discussion, that I fundamentally disagreed with them, then I’d leave.
Speaking only for myself, I wouldn’t hang around sniping, if I didn’t like something.
The how, when and if a “campaign” gets support from this forum isn’t in my hands, I accept that, so my own preference is to let the management team carry on with their duties. Other people are entitled to their own take on this, so they’ll do as they see fit. All they need to realise is that there are rules. Everybody has exactly that choice IMHO. In short, it amounts to “stay” or “go,” it’s not rocket science IMHO.
Can I look forward to meeting you at the “do.”
