Regarding C.M.R.S

FOUND ON THE OFFICIAL .GOV WEBSITE !!!

A direct quote

“The description should be acceptable to the consignor and consignee. For security reasons, you do not always want the carrier to be able to identify valuable goods”.

So if I understand correctly a ‘consignor’ can use any description to describe YOUR load, if its worth something, AND they have ‘permission’ from OUR Government to do it!!
Don’t worry about the implications on the carrier / driver when stopped at borders eh!

its always been like that since the cmr’s were introduced.
the cmr is a legal document as such, as a driver haulier your liability for the load is covered by the cmr as in the way of what the load is.
when I use to do groupage runs you would have 1 cmr of each package, did I know what was in each? NO.
never had a problem when clearing customs, even when stopped on the road in France just use to hand them the paperwork, most of the time they would just hand it back and tell me to get on my way.
