I didnt do too well when asked about the sequence of traffic lights,i answered red means stop…then amber, then green means go…I couldn’t answer what comes after green as I said id have wellied it away by then.are they daft or what??

Apparently merseyside police do a “Red light awareness course” so there is a chance I wont get points.

What’s that? 7.5 hours of looking at a red light? Or do they throw in an amber now and again just to check that you’re learning?

maybe, it might be done clockwork orange style to drill the message home.

a year ago trailer wheels activated the red light camera while i was driving - have not heard anything

merseyside.police.uk/advice … e-reports/

Merseyside offer Traffic awareness courses, if you were less than 3 seconds into red, got my NIP today I was 1.2 seconds in.

So at best I’ll go on this course, at worst its likely it will be 3 points and fine (Ts10 code)

Chalk this one up as a lesson to not chance amber again, I could have stopped its was a poor moment of judgement.

Unlucky pal!
But I thought the option of a course was instead of the points? :open_mouth:

The offer of a course is up to the fixed penalty unit , and no offer is made if you’ve done one in the last few years or got points already

I have no points currently, it says if you have done the same course in last 3 years you dont qualify.

So I do qaulify, however they may still decide to offer fixed penalty and points anyway, there not obliged to offer to the course.

Agree with the first bit (discretionary) but you certainly can be offered a course even if you already have points on your licence (but not if you’ve recently done the course).

Thought I’d update here like I said

I got offered the choice of 3 points and 100 fine, or a attend a course Called “Whats Driving Us” the course fee is £79.
So obviously I’ll attend the course and avoid the points off my licence.

In other news passed my CPC case studies yesterday, got my Mod 4 this Tuesday

The phrase “no brainer” springs to mind!

Oh - and well done on the CPC pass

Difficult decision to make mate, either take the 3 points and pay £100 fine or pay £79 and no points, not sure what i’d do myself.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks, things are coming up good.

Thought I’d update this thread because next person who gets flashed a red light will likely google it and this thread might come up, if it has a conclusion its more of a help.

So resisting the temptation to speeding is that generally it just means you get paid less, and only raise the bar?

It certainly is a tough choice
