Goodbye for now altered to i'm getting better

Great news Steve and good luck for the 30th let us know

and long may it stay that way. all the best

thanks all,
the appointment on the 30th is just a “keep an eye on and make sure its as was” appointment.
as stated already, my lungs aint going to get better and shouldn’t get worse.
the main one for me is the cancer, and according to the consultant its gone for good unless i get unlucky

Sounds good Ste.
That’s great news, steady as she goes…and good luck for the 30th…:grimacing:

went to the docs yesterday and came away feeling quite chipper.
he went through my CT scan with me and my lungs are still improving.
he doesn’t know how its happening but it is, and he’s confident that if things keep going the way they are going in two years time i should be up to between 50 to 70% of what my lung capacity was when i took ill.
i’ve got the ok to try and exercise and start on weights, though he doesn’t think i’ll lift more than the bar (no weights) for a while.
he’s now referring me to a bloke in manchester who’s supposed to be one of THE men in this field, in the world.
i’m glad i’ve paid my stamp all these years, i would never afford all this in a country where i had to pay for it at source, long live the NHS.

Thats great news.

Nice one steve. I agree about the NHS. They do a good job under terrible financial restrictions.
Having said that though they can keep there MRSA next time

they never give me any of that mrsa when i was there jb, i’ll ask them where mine is next time i go back
hows it going with you, back to normal i hope.

now dont laugh cos its took me two weeks to complete this but today i managed to achieve my latest goal
a pair of dumbells 10lb on each one.
chubby checker “the twist” on the stereo
exercise consists of curls(waist to shoulder)
no counting just constant reps while swivelling my hips to the tune
ok towards the end the weights are only just at chest height, but no ones watching
going to keep to this tune for a couple of weeks until i can do it easy then find a longer tune.
so if you’re grafting away and happen to look at your clock about 10am you’ll know what i’m doing

Every time this thread reappears I shudder a little until I realise Steve Biggus hasnt fallen off his perch.

So can we have some pics please or is it a sight for sore eyes :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck with it it has been worth it and will be in the end

Me too! :open_mouth: Well done Steve

Steve hope you are recovering well and those wieghts are not getting you down  Fantastic news keep going mate and you’ll be running the marathon before too long
Thinking of you
George

hi george, i understood the pun but theres no way the weights would ever get me down.
i’ve waited since march to be given the all clear to start on them and in only a couple of weeks i’m starting to get some shape back on my arms.
my lungs are still improving and i’m certain in my head that exercising will be the difference between the 50% recovery and 70% recovery.
marathons are out the window though for sure,
i used to do half marathons for fun until i turned 40 but i’ve got no inclination to start again
go and get that fish caught and dont forget to take a pic of it as proof,
cheers steve

been for my 8 week cancer check up today and everythings fine, don’t have to go back to see them until november

i promise not to resurrect this one again till after i see the lung specialist in manchester on sept 29th.

Hi Steve, I’ve noticed that the gaps between the appointments appear to be getting longer.

Your news just keeps getting better and better-- long may it continue.

cheers dave, yep its a 3 month gap now :sunglasses:
the guy i’m going to see on the 29th in manchester is apparently THE world expert on whats wrong with my lungs and he’s requested my presence to meet me in person because he says whats happening to my lungs (regenerating and improving) can’t happen.
he’s had all my CT scans and x rays and agrees with my consultant they are improving, but still insists it can’t happen.
i think he wants to make sure they’re not sending him up with a fictitious case and he’s paying all expenses to make sure i turn up

Hi Steve, I’d view that as he’s desperate for you to prove him wrong. :grimacing:

Maybe you’ll become a research patient, who knows?

Either way up, you’ve nothing to lose so go for it mate.

Hi Steve what great news I will keep my fingers crossed for you, it goes to show you can beat it and if anyone was going to it’s got to be you. Have you gone on the Macmillan site? a lot of others on there would welcome your news as it would give them hope and show them there is hope…
http://www.macmillan.org.uk/ I know you are going to be ok. Thinking of you mate.
regards
George

Hi Steve,
I haven’t entered onto this thread before but , like most others on Trucknet I suspect, I have been watching with interest. I would like to add my best wishes for your continued improvement and sincerely hope that you go on to win the, so far, lousy hand you have been dealt by fate. There but for the grace of God go all of us. GOOD LUCK mate, keep confounding them!!
Les.

Incredible news Steve  that macmillan idea is a great one your story would be an inspiration to many folk I’m sure.
