Good Friday not a public holiday ? yeah right!

If we work a bank holiday it’s a extra $250 on top of the miles that we do. Had to run for 4hrs yesterday back to the yard. Easy money

Slackbladder:
There will be plenty that don’t pay for bank holidays. I know Ramage in Newcastle don’t pay you for working bank holidays, any bank holiday, and as they do a 4 on 4 off system someone will be doing this Friday -Monday for no extra. I don’t work there anymore.

I work there mate and I had to run in yesterday morning by time I washed off etc I had 3 and a half hours which I get on top of my 10 hours for the bank holiday .

You’ve got to be off your ■■■■ to choose to work Good Friday or any day till Tuesday unless you are on at least double bubble.

Well, I suppose it depends. If you are a practising Christian who wishes to observe Christ’s crucifixion, then I suppose no amount of money ought to tempt you to work. If you aren’t, then it really isn’t any different to any other Friday or Monday.

I’m back to work at mid-day tomorrow (Sunday) and I’ll be working on Monday. It’s working a sixth day that makes the big financial difference to an OO rather than working a Bank Holiday, rates and costs remain the same whether it is a holiday or not, but as I calculate fixed costs over a five-day week, the sixth day is essentially “free”, and so I earn the rate, minus the diesel only. So if I do a £450 job and use £180’s worth of diesel then I’ve earned £270 for giving up a Sunday afternoon.

Errrrrr yes it is. Coz while tens of thousands of caravan loonies are queueing for mile after mile down the M5 to crap in a field in Weston Super Mare I was cruising down an Empty M6 and M1 without a care in the world instead of sitting in the usual mile after mile of queues

If you taught the idiots, then they’d ‘know’ and they wouldn’t be idiots any more. Then the teacher would be the idiot for trying to teach everyone something they already know. :unamused:

Dipper Dave… Had the car 2 years now and was 1 when I got it…1st MOT due next month… (plate is from wife’s old Fiesta, mine is an 11 plate), never had any problems with the police about the spacing but I didn’t change any of the font, just moved the digits…the ANPR camera at Gatwick Airport Carpark can read it, as it lets me in and out!

Just get a set of MOT plates made up then swap em back. That’s what I did :grimacing:

Thanks, would be interesting if this sails through the MOT without any one bringing it up as I would like to do the same on the wifes car.

She has the reg: ‘BL03 JOB’ but as its been so long since I got one this is false advertising.

+1 definately a plan and saves a re-test.

Double time and a day off in lieu, or single time and two days of in lieu.

Simples.

Double time for the hours worked plus the 8 hours so if I worked a 10 hour shift I would get 28 hours pay.
I remember a couple of years ago the monday and tuesday were bank holidays in lieu of christmas/boxing day which fell on the weekend. I did both days, 10 hours each day. 56 hours pay for 2 days work.
Don’t work the bank holidays now as better things to do with my time.
