Going international. LOL

I have to drive into French speaking territory on Monday. I have to take 3 days off including today … so sad … NOT ! Drive down to Albany early Monday and hook to a loaded trailer for Montreal, I haven’t driven across the border in 8 years :sunglasses:

I was in Queerbec last week, odd bunch of mothers, had a cracking meal at that little Flying J just before Montreal the salad bar was as good as any Le Routiers I’ve been in & thats a few

Not bothered if I don’t go back though…

I have been to or driven through Quebec almost every week for the past three years and really dont mind the place at all. It makes a change from the uniformity of North America where everything looks the same as is almost like a little section of France/Europe in north America. Having said that, the sooner the Route 30 ringroad around Montreal is completed the better!

Where abouts in Montreal are you going, do you know yet?

3055 Rue Viau, it’s right in the city, Kraft foods. According to my directions and the map I basically stay on one road after crossing the border, although the route numbers change, then cross the second bridge into the city, then a couple of right turns so it’s easy.

Yes Rue Viau is just off Notre-Dame which is the main road running north out of the city centre down the side of the river to the port area. So long as you’re not carrying hazardous its easy. As you say, cross the border and head north up the 15, then take the Pont Champlain over the river and then bear right and follow the signs for Centreville/Downtown on the 10. When you see the sky scrapers etc in front of you, you’ll need to get over to the right and bear off on to the 720 which is in a tunnel underneath the city centre and where you’re not allowed to be with haz loads. Once on the 720 just stay on that and it’ll turn in to Rue Notre-Dame. Eventually you’ll come to Rue Viau which you’ll turn left on to. According to google earth its got a timed truck restriction except for deliveries so you’ll be fine with that.

Alternatively. When you come over the Champlain bridge on the 15 just carry on until you get to the 40. Take the 40 towards Quebec city and then exit directly on to Viau from the other end. If you’re carrying anything hazardous this would be the way to go as Montreal’s two tunnels are off limits. The Lafontaine on the 25 and the Ville-Marie on the 720.

I dont mind Montreal, though I shudder to think how your truck will cope with its automatic emergancy braking gismo as you’ll undoubtedely get cut up dozens/hundreds of times before you make it out!

Checking my peoplenet assignment thismorning I see the load is coconut oil so nothing nasty

That won’t bother Pat one iota, he’s never been one to complain!

Ha ha … not really mate because I only live down the road from Montreal anyway, it’s nearer to my house than NYC and of course across that damm border.

Have heard a lot of our guys head over NY way but not got the details yet then back through Toronto then across trans canada highway 1 back over about a 2 week run or so

If you cross via Toronto and Niagra then thats at least a 9 hour drive from NYC mate. I doo see your guys driving down the NY thruway a bit.

I have to say, your firm made life difficult for you Pat. We cross the border every week and it’s a piece of ■■■■ :open_mouth:

You get loaded, fax the invoice to the broker with a PARS sticker attached, phone to confirm they’ve received it and can read the fax, then an hour later it is usually cleared and you go to the border, they scan the PARS barcode, ask you if you have any weapons, duty free or large amounts of cash and that’s it, in fact it’s so simple that even dumbass truck drivers can do it

I didn’t load it so I assumed the geezer who did should have done all that ■■■■.

You know where you went wrong then

Next time, you’ll ■■■■ it, bet you can’t wait
