Gnss missing code 88 on tacho

Driving along and get a tacho error on the dash when I look at tacho head it says gnss missing 88. Spoke to yard and they said do a manual entry when you get back. How do I do a manual entry at the end of my shift and will I have to do the entire shift

You don’t need to do a manual entry - the tachograph will still record all your driving/working/break times. The GNSS module validates the accuracy of the speed record and also records your start/finish locations (as well as logging your location every three hours).

Smart tachographs will have a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) module which automatically records your vehicle location at the start and the end of the journey, as well as updates it every three hours of drive.

Plus, the smart tachograph will be able to remotely communicate with road side inspection officers. Enforcement officers will use a short range radio device, remotely checking certain tachograph data without stopping the vehicle. So, they can remotely detect potential offences. If no issues are found, drivers stay on the road and continue their journey uninterrupted – meaning no valuable time is wasted on unnecessary roadside inspections.

As above there is an issue with the global navigation satellite system on the tacho.

However I would still do a print out on the safe side and write Tacho GNSS fault and the start and end locations on it. Like you would have done on a chart when you put where your journey started and finished. Just to cover you arse and keep the office wallahs happy. One copy for you and one copy for them.

Just checking, the only location you need would be UK to UK , is that right?

Well the GPS shows exactly where your journey starts and finishes. So for me it would be town/city I started in and town/city I finished in like you had to write on a paper chart before Digi tachos came in.
