A couple of Andy Lee from Redmarley Gloucestershire.

Fabulous photos, Nightrod. I have to confess that I never knew Cecil’s went back that far. Fascinating.

You’re absolutely right, matey- Geoff James did go to Richard’s when the Old Firm packed in. He continued to do a couple of days a week for them after he retired, then went driving a delivery van locally. As far as I know he’s still doing a bit- he and his wife live in a bungalow opposite the one my mother & father lived in until their demise. I’m old enough to remember Geoff coming back to Goulding’s after completing his National Service. He drove an ex-wd Bedford model WO tipper which was christened “The Buzz Bomb”.
Geoff stayed with the firm all through his working life until the firm folded.

Two Leyland Octopus from the William Gilder stable , go " Head - to - head " .

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Can any of the more elderly chaps tell me who William belongs to? Presumably he’s the son of one of the famous brothers? I go back to the times of G.G. (Grampy) Gilder but I haven’t kept up with which offspring belongs to whom.

William is a younger brother to Gordon,Graham & Peter, Edward & joe Gilder are peter,s sons. William is mostly tanker work now with very little machinery.

I saw one of Joe Gilders’ Scania units upsetting the tourists and citizens of Burford earlier today. The noise drowning out the oriental tourist chatter…

I don’t know if any of you local guy’s are going to ‘The Festival of Transport’ in Coleford town centre on Easter monday? I shall be there to mainly see the commercial vehicles. But there is other stuff to do and see (depending on the weather of course)…

i will be there paul! oh and have a look on “OLD PHOTOS OF THE FOREST OF DEAN” web site. on the “new additions” tab on left there are some rossiter and james photos, in colour too!

I had intended to come down and stay with my daughter’s family for a few days over Easter but her ankle-biters have decided that they would rather be taken to see some berk called Olly Murs than spend a day in Coleford with grandad.
About time these youngsters got their priorities right I d’aim.

thanks for letting us know about transport festival, we are staying at chepstow for the national tractor run this weekend. thanks for the imfOon Geoff James its a small world when you get on here .
