I had a really decent pic ready to bring this thread back to the front page but my scanner’s gone kaput.

Have not seen it for some time . It is usually 6 and 8 axel vehicles . regards Keith .
Sorry I cant help on this. The only breakdown trucks in my time there was that Douglas 4x4 and a Thornycroft 6 wheeler powered by a great big 6LW However Ivor was building a 6 wheeler Atkinson powered by a 6LX.He reckoned the winch would be better of powered by a Lister engine. If work was slack in the garage you would be made to help on this project
Thanks leylandlover anyway, the last time I was in the Dean I remember seeing it parked up at Read’s, but I haven’t been that way for a long while now.
Anyone know what Hacklings are like? Surprised there’s not much about them on here.

The Chris Hayter of the Cotswolds then. I don’t know if they still have it but last year they were still running a lovely tidy Volvo FL7 6w tipper for odd maintenance jobs. They’ve had it years. I asked as there’s loads of agency ads on Directgov job site for a “company in Bourton” on general haulage work.
Talking of jobs, Huntsmans are advertising for mixer drivers too.

Hi H143500,
I went past Reads yesterday and there was a 4 axle wrecker right next to the gateway, it wasn’t a conventional 8 wheeler as it had three of the axles together at the rear. Looks a mean old beast
Cheers
Ade

Thanks for that, hoping to come down for Xmas,I will try and get there.
I’m coming down for Xmas as well. The sprog and the bloke she married reckon I did such a good job of child-minding last year that they’ve invited me to do it all over again!
Just to get this back on the 1st page, might have put it on before though, her last load before going to warmer climbs
cheers Ade

They will sweat in that pod if they spend the night in their Ade.
Cheers Dave.
It certainly wasn’t made for “warmer climes”, Dave.
Lurpak, are there any photos in your office of the green ERFs?
Thank goodness we’re back on the front page. I was feeling lost for a while!
