what app is that and does it account for low bridges ?

M74 Glasgow M8 westwards through Glasgow to A82 then just north of Tyndrum A85 to Oban then going north on the A828 to Ballachulish join the A82 to Fort William keep on the A82 towards Inverness at Invergarry left onto the A87 to Skye. Pull in at Hamilton Services just south of Glasgow or at Tyndrum The Green Welly Service area always wagons in there drivers will clue you up if need be. The A82 along Loch Lomond side from Tarbert to Ardlui can be a bit trying.
Good luck

thanks oiltreader I’ll be coming from Cairnryan so it will be up the A77 to Glasgow - thats the easy part . Thanks for the route but it looks like theres a 14 foot bridge on the A85 https://maps.app.goo.gl/BEuGNT26utjG89oq9

Best bet then A82 to Ballachulish then A828 back down to Oban, fridge wagons run that road not sure what height they are.
Cheers

As shown by karim NOT a good idea.

That’s from Road Lords. Yes it takes account of low bridges ok (why it hasn’t suggested the A85 into Oban) but it might not exclude any Unsuitable for HGV’s.

Connel Bridge has a height limit. 13ft 9 according to Streetview in 2021. Glasgow to Oban I took A82 past Loch Lomond, A83 all the way to Lochgilphead then A816 north to Oban, which is very scenic but isn’t a great route in a truck. Don’t remember any height restriction apart from some kind of pedestrian bridge that was around 16ft I think on the A83. Did see a double decker on that route.

Unfortunately I can’t help with the route up to Skye but looks like a bit of back tracking as in Oban you’re wrong side of both the A85 low bridge and the Connel Bridge.

Good info from karin ie the Connell bridge and now the only way at 4.5m is as he says. The A83 Rest and Be Thankful area landslides means using old military road so delays latest update

A83

This was the correct answer .
trailer was 4.48m high the route was the A82 to Lochgilped and then North to Oban.Once tipped in Oban I had to backtrack to Lochgilped back along the A83 to Inveray North on the A819 to Dalmally and pick up the A85 out to Clifton and then North on the A82 to Glencoe and on to Fort William , Spean Bridge , Invergarry and out the A87 to the Isle of Skye .
Cairnryan to Oban about 6 hours driving , Oban to Isle of Skye another 6 and a half hours . Stunning scenery on Tuesday and Wednesday

Thats me parked up for a pic at Glen Shiel on Wednesday morning .
