Sploom:
I particularly dont like the electric windows that go all the way down or up even when you release the button.
They tend to have a safety thing on now to stop you catching your fingers.
The Renault R310 I had in the 90s didnt…
I remember discovering this one day, while shutting the window while driving on the M6 and stupidly keeping my fingers at the top of the window, and catching them in there, trapping them… then in a painful panic trying to press the button with my left hand in ■■■■ agony at 60 mph.
My 4 fingers were bruised from the middle knuckles up for days afterwards.
Most of my collection - won’t read any more.
I wonder if the background radiation count - has slowly been degrading the aluminium recording media within the CD…
When brand new, CDs could be spread with marmalade, wiped off, and they’d still read…
Left gathering dust on a shelf for a few years though?
Wipe them off, careful not to scratch them… and they STILL won’t bloody read more often than not!
Music CDs “skip”, and software CDs - fail halfway through the install process…

Is there anything more obsolete than a CD then?
I’m not surprised they’ve failed, if you treat them that way. I’ve got music CDs that are years old and have been played thousands of times, still working. I do treat them with respect and store them properly, in their cases.

Yep,.same here, they are like everything and everybody else,.you look after them and they respond properly.
So Winseer spreads marmalade on his CDs , ok.
I’m making no.comment on that whatsoever.
the nodding donkey:
A phone that, besides making phone calls, allows total strangers to bother you with their opinions and other bolarks. 24 hours a day.
I know you are joking, but that is a good point.
A phone is primarily a PHONE, ie a device for two people to talk to each other at a long distance.
Nowadays they are more like an electronic p.a than a phone.,.they do virtually everything for you…which is great yeah.
What severely ■■■■■■ me off is you can randomly for instance…
Order a pair of jeans say from California, you can do your banking,.you can watch football streamed from China, you can receive an e.mail from Australia, you can take photos and vids, you can find your way to places, do calculations,.even find your way in the dark …all of that and much more…again great.
BUT…if you make a PHONE CALL, (.ie it’s primary function and reason to be,) the ■■■■ thing loses signal and in some areas you can’t make a call at all…ever.
If they were not so ■■■■ expensive I’d be hoying mine out of the window most days.
Again maybe just me and my intolerant nature with things…and people.

I was thinking the marmalade might be to stop the CCP or martions from spying on him.

Remember the myth in the 90s that if you put 3 CD.s in your windscreen, speed cameras could not detect your speed?..(its amazing what you can make drivers believe btw )
Winseer will have his under the stairs or underground bunker lined with them …You’re maybe right, that would be why he then spread marmalade on them
Our version was two long springs, about 1" diameter and mounted in a X on the front. Supposedly it gave erratic and false, ridiculously high readings. I doubt they actually worked.
Cigarette Lighters in vehicles with “No Smoking” in them…
“Motorists Appliances” that are 12v only, rather than 24v for Trampers…
Bunks that still have the plastic covering on them for new, but you can still see the ■■■ burns in the mattress underneath through the plastic cover…
FFS who takes that off, vandalizes it, and then puts the pristine cover back on after■■?
