Getting payed for European tramping

Hi, I wonder how a British driver gets paid for doing european deliveries regularly. Is there any different calculation or they have the average salary like in the UK plus some allowances like night out, meal allowance, etc… :open_mouth:

Depends on the firm. They are all different. We get paid exactly the same here in the uk or abroad.

Day rate or salary
European expences normally pay more with better meal allowance and of course Holborn weighting adds to the basic

hourly pay is not worth a toss on european work. if you’re doing a lot of distance like 3 or 4 days driving before you tip, you’ll only get 12 hours in per day, and that’s stretching it out.
day rate, trip money, or salary.
subsistance living allowance can be much higher in europe than in the uk, in fact there’s no upper limit.
then there’s the meal allowance.
and depending on who you work for, you may be paid partly from the uk firm, and also from a foreign firm.
i’ve been paid £250 gross, but taken home £650 most weeks. how they work it out is a mystery. but it’s what’s in the bank that matter.

Depends. I am paid per hour for all the time I spend away from the yard. So further I go, better week I have

I’m paid per day wherever i am, which is a result as I get paid for everyday im away including the weekends sightseeing…sometimes I wish i was hourly paid but overall I think day rate is better for us…

Before moving to Canada I was doing Swiss/Germany and the odd week in the UK and would get a fixed day rate regardless of where I was. Used to get £20 per night out in the UK and £25 when abroad. I cant remember what we got paid for a night on the ferry, it was at least as much as a UK night out though.

so your on a day rate then not hourly

No, i am not on day rate. I am on hourly rate. If I leave the yard at noon, I am paid only for 12 hours that day.

That cant be a bad number being paid hourly whilst you sleep . how the hell can your boss afford to pay you for the 9 or 11+hrs that your parked up? he must be doing something right

I am driving small vans… Sometimes I sleep less than 11 hours… Also when I go to hotel and claim it back, 8 hours is kicked from my salary… But on other occasions he pays me for lying on the beach on Cote d’Azur or hanging around in Norway for 30 hours waiting for the load back  This is really good life, if we only had proper maintained vans with sleeper cabs, I could not complain…

Out of curiosity, what would be an “average” wage for a Polish van driver on one of them Sprinter curtainsiders with the sleeper pod?

ahh that explains it then (vans) we are also hourly paid but we only get paid a flat day (10 hours )if we dont move. but we always book on by 7am so we dont get shafted into running thru the next night

Don’t know average, but my friend who used to drive them was getting around 4000 zÅ‚ per month (~ 250 pounds per week) couple of years ago, and there were people earning more and less than he did…

Quickly browsed some forums and if we kick all that mythomaniacs and idiots who drive for pennies, 3500-5000 zÅ‚ seems to be realistic estimate… Usually they are three of four weekends at home.

And not much Polish companies use sprinters, new sprinters are crap (and I can tell something about it from my own experiences), Renault Master/Opel Movano or Peugeut Boxer/Fiat Ducato seem to be most popular choices

We get paid by the hour the same rate UK or over water, nite out £24 uk £29 euro,if weekendin we get paid £100+niteout each day parked up
