Came down here to NYC Monday via Albany to get a switch fitted in my truck, then did a preload. Tuesday morning all I did was nip down the road 11 miles to Park ave in the Bronx to deliver to some rat infested hole that make pickles (if you can call those green things the Yanks eat pickles), came back to the refinery and did another preload. Today I get up, get a dry bulker loaded and dun it 14 miles to Fair Lawn NJ, drop and hook to an empty and run back again, two more preloads then I hear a hissing and my air is going down, I found the exhaust pipe had melted the red line that comes out of the back of the air tank on the right side, so call out a mechanic who re-routes it over the frame behind the cab. Tomorrow I have insisted I get away and to a truckstop for a proper shower so they are sending me to Scranton PA … thank the man in the sky.
you aint having much luck with air pipes lately pat…
Probably picked it up from a piece of shrapnel
A switch? What to turn the e log off.
Nope, it was the switch that controls the cruise/engine brake, after all that talking about how my cruise wouldn’t work after stopping at Ulster service area and Robinhood saying it was the switch… the actual switch did in fact stop working unless I hit it with a hammer.

Be needing one of those 3 day resets after all that Pat
So Thursday after I got back to Yonkers and found very little to do again, I moaned and asked for the next available Montreal run (provided it wasn’t weekend work LOL). So I bob tailed home this afternoon after preloading a couple for other guys, thats another 250 mile bob tail. Monday i will be bob tailing down to Albany to collect an empty tanker, dropping that in Yonkers, bob tailing to Newark NJ, hooking to a load for Montreal that delivers noon on Tuesday
I’d sooner go to Montreal than Newwark or Yonkers. I’m down through NYC every bloody week now in my new job and its driving me to almost suicidal despair. An odd experience this week though, I came down through damnation alley (I95 from Newhaven to NY), the Cross Bronx and the GWB and barely had to lift off, all that and it was only 6:45 in the evening. I actually made it down to Molly Pitcher legally. Not that it mattered as it all went wrong the next morning when it took hours to get tipped in Avondale, PA and went even more pear shaped in York, PA with my reload. The week from hell really, made even worse by all the rain on Friday and the ensuing even worse driving standards of the locals.
That happens sometimes, I set out for a hop over to the NJ side of the GWB on weds and didn’t slow up except to negotiate the corkscrew. I am suprised you don’t go 84, 684, Tappan Zee and 287 to avoid that crap.
York PA is the town from Hell in my opinion, US30 through it is the most annoying traffic light screw up on the planet.
So if you are around this week I will be dropping a 5000 gallon tanker in Yonkers at abut 08.30 mon, bob tailing to Kerny NJ (exit 15E) collecting a 7000 gallon tanker and loading in Port Newark at 10.00, then heading back north for my tues delivery to return to drop the same tanker back at Kerny on weds.
To get from our yard to Molly Pitcher is 600 and something miles and can only just be done legally from our yard in NB if we dont get held up for more than a few minutes. I do try and miss NYC if I can and we do get paid for whichever way we go but parking any where north of Molly Pitcher is usually night on impossible so I wanted to give myself every chance of getting there, or at least being able to realistically logging it so went the shortest route. Well, almost the shortest route, I tend to carry on from Worcester on to the 395 and head south to the 95 rather than go on the 84 to Hartford then 91 south to Newhaven, its a bit longer but quicker in my opinion.
Next week I’m going to Huntersville, NC so will be going on the 84 out to Scranton and down the 81 to the 77. Its about 70km longer but misses out a whole world of crap in other places.
York, PA is a real pain in the arse. I came in on US30 from Lancaster and it took me over an hour to get from the city limits to where I83 crosses as a minibus/van had totally burnt out under neath the 83.
I often do the run to Methuen MA and I have found it a lot quicker to head up 91 and across 84 and 90 than 395.
I think its about 17 miles longer going via the 395. Obviously if there are no hold ups then Hartford is quicker but I find the 395 a much more pleasant and stress free drive in comparison and there is often heavy traffic on the 84 at Hartford and all down the 91 any way.
395 is a nicer ride agree’s but it’s when you get to New Haven on 95 that is a drag.

Thats my least favourite road in all North America.
