we are hoping to sell our house, and move to devon.was thinking of joining agency first, then hoping to find full time work after.but spoke to bank, about taking morgage with us.but they said, agency isn’t classed as full time work.so they won’t let us take morgage with us unless i have a full time job to go straight to.if we pay off morgage, then they say "i have to be employed for 6months before they will remorgage us"just wondered if anyone out there, went through this when relocating to another area.
When relocating to another area, I’ve yet to hear of a high street lender who’ll even consider granting a mortgage when the full time job you’re moving to isn’t set up yet.
Part of the reason I can do agency in the first instance, is because I’ve got a term mortgage, so both I and the lender know where we stand already. They’d be horrified to know I’ve taken a big paycut over the past 2 years though!
As long as I keep up the payments, I don’t get pestered by them however. I just wouldn’t be able to get a new mortgage if I decided that I, too, wanted to up sticks and move.
I’ve made my bed, and now I’ve got to lie in it!
Agency can be a proper job
Just work through anybody that lends money and see who offers a decent deal
theres hundreds of banks that are fairly kosher

I’m with LLoyds (G&G) they didn’t have any problem with me on agency even though I was gong through a divorce etc still gave me a mortgage… go see the bank / mortgage lot and ask again then go see another bank tell em what ur gonna do ad that if they will sub you up they can have your account the go back to the Woolwich and tell them what u doing…
A. they’ll offer you the better deal or .B.tell em to go swing
i don’t think they should.
agency work isn’t permanent paye work. giving self cert mortgages to people without permanent jobs and an invented income raises house prices that are out of reach for the working man.
Go to an independant mortgage advisor who is not tied into any banks/building societies, whole off the market ones as martin lewis says, or sell your house pocket any equity and go and rent one in devon, just an idea but good luck i cant get missus to move to next street.

Even in a permanent job,lol if there is such a thing these days, the job might be permanent, but not the person holding the position?
Then again, some one who’s so keen on ‘running bent’ self certified/invented mortgage applications should be ‘right up your street’?
Nowdays, self-cert (“Liars”) mortgages are only granted to landlords using the income on their string of highly leveraged properties as collateral AND income declaration for the next mortgage in line… I believe they call this “Pyramiding the market”.
How else do you think some chav gets to own a string of properties with mortgages well over a million when he don’t look like he’s got a pot to ■■■■ in, and drives a battered Xr3i to boot?
Try ter Nationwide building society. I was on agency a couple of years ago. May have changed now though .
If you want my advice & are looking for a driving job in Devon…DON’T DO IT! There is sod all down here at the moment.

Agency work’s currently paying my mortgage. TBH aslong as the money comes in ontime and the work is legal I don’t give a toss who’s named as my employer or if it’s a new or fleet motor.

I disagree. My take on it is:-
Affordable and/or fiddled insurance coupled with too few full time jobs.
Agencies are a symptom of that, since they would not exist at all without a glut of drivers available to work for them.
If insurance were expensive or unobtainable for low quality drivers and/or every available driver were already employed somewhere, then agencies would eventually go the same way as the labour exchange.
Take away the agencies, and you’ll just see everyone currently working for one on the dole, since firms making more money in actual fact encourages very few of them to create more new jobs, or even raise the pay of those already employed there.
There might be more overtime available, and with it an encouragement to run bent to “get that extra bit in”, but that’s about it.
