German manager for England

If you aint interested in football, no real need to read this…
But hey!..I’ll rhyme off the ‘Football haters Bingo’ to save a few posts.
Overpaid/bag of wind around a field/prima donnas/divers/wouldnt watch them in my front garden…etc etc.
There ya go…Full house.:joy:

So… We have a German manager from Jan1.

My initial thoughts were…German?..wtf?
However after the initial shock, I realised he has been brought in only to do one job, on an 18month gig.
We’ve got to Finals, he’s been sent in to win one…simple, or is it?
Anybody any thoughts?
Will the end justify the means?
Or are you like one of my mates,.a long term England fan, who reckons he will refuse to watch them being managed by a German.

I’m not surprised that no British person wanted the job, Southgate gave England football fans a real sense of “we can do this”, but all most of them did was slag him off, making out that they could do a better job. Armchair pundits, FFS…

The irony of England being managed by a German is too much (“just don’t mention the war…”) :joy:

Yeah but tbf him being around football all his life, he would know too well, that football fans are just like that…so no surprise to him.

Tbf it was only the last Euro comp that they turned on him, he had done that well for us compared to other past managers, that the expectations were just too high.

Plus his defensive tactics (him being a defensive player) did not go down too well with many fans.
Thing is in the Greece game, Carsley with the same squad put all his attacking players on in an experiment , and they got 4 goals on us…or was it 5?

A German royal family is fine, but outrage when a German manager is given the England job! :joy:

Pep must have turned it down :joy:

Bellamy has got off to a great start for us over here in Wales :grinning:

Eddie Howe never even got an interview…I’m very pleased to say.:joy:
It was mentioned on Talksport, …think it was Stuart Pearce, he thought Tuchel was 3rd choice behind Klopp and Pep.

Ah yeah…Bellamy ex Newcastle player.
I remember when he left us, and came back to StJames as a player for the away side, and us all singing… ‘Sh scared of Shearer’ at him, after their ‘disagreement’.:joy:

Makes as much sense as an English or Scottish manager for Germany or Italy.
Or German/American made race cars given the Toyota/Mazda name at LeMans.
All Globalist bovine excrement.

I might have this wrong, don’t the team have to qualify first to get to the world cup

Yep…and that is exactly why they have got him starting Jan 1, instead of in 16 months or so’s time.

Hahaha I think with Bellamy it’ll either go really well and we’ll qualify for a major tournament, or he’ll self-destruct and we’ll be back to square one.

He seems to have learnt a lot already as a assistant to Kompany and is saying all the right things, so I’m crossing my fingers for a good few years!

How do ya think they will do without Gareth Bale ?
(Not having a go btw, I do like to see Wales doing well in competitions.)
Jeez I even like to see Scotland in fact.:flushed::joy:

They’ll miss the big moments he always brought to Wales games, but so far without him they look like a bit more of a team, whereas before they would look to pass to Bale at every opportunity.

Wilson and Johnson will hopefully step up and chip in with enough goals, but we’ll be lacking an out and out goal scorer for some time to come I think.

Hopefully he’ll lead you lot to another semi final defeat or even the heartbreak of a final

Can’t stand the England national team good laugh watching them lose every two years though

You obviously don’t know much about football mate.
Getting to a final would be fine by me.

Couldn’t care less what his passport states as his nationality. As an English football fan I want the best available candidate for the job.
Tuchel certainly fits that bill. The whole “German” managing the “England” team is a ridiculous argument, bearing in mind this is 2024, not 1944.

I thought he was unjustifiably sacked at Chelsea by the new owners - I’m no fan of Chelsea but from what i could see he was doing a good job.

He has won the league in France & Germany and the Champions league at Chelsea. Irrelevant of what we may think about the ease of winning those leagues when managing PSG & Bayern respectively it’s still silverware - something Southgate didnt have on his resume. Hence why he was criminally exposed everytime we played a so called big team during his tenure.

Tuchel is used to managing big players and big ego’s. He’s not afraid to speak out and speak his mind, I do worry how this will go down with the suits and old boys club at the FA. But Kudos to them for not going for the safe yes man option for once.

I’m a man united fan so I know more about football than you- as an England fan you have no concept of what winning even feels like do you. I can tell you from experience that winning the Champions league in 1999 feels a whole lot better than getting to the final twice but losing both times to Barcelona

Maybe this German feller can get you to a final and you can enjoy taking part, then I can enjoy watching you lose and then we’ll both be happy

Not sure if the ‘anti German’ thing is to do with WW2, I think it’s more of a football history thing.
Germany have always been our arch rivals, and the side we always want to beat above any other in an international tournament.
If we met Germany in the final,.and beat them, yeah it would be great…but the sour grapes off the likes of the Jocks would be …''It took a German to beat them ‘’ etc, which we would never hear the last of, …but yeah,.I would still settle for it.
Put it this way, I’d sooner have him than the likes of Steve F McClaren, or even Sam Allardyce, he seems to be the kind of guy who ‘takes no crap off anybody’ and speaks his mind, which I like a lot.

A Man U fan?..
I should have known.
Which part of Surrey or the Home Counties are you from? :joy:
Yep you’re right, at England we have no concept of winning a final…err that’s the whole thing innit?

So you know more about football than me?..
Ok, yeah that’s quite possible, …who knows?..
But ‘BECAUSE’ you follow Man U? :flushed:
Ok, so how does that work exactly?

If you know so much about football I’ve heard they are looking for somebody at your lot that fits that bill to be your manager.
Yeah like you say, I’m also enjoying watching them this season.

(I’m joking man I’m joking.)

Born in Manchester grew up in Blackpool

Spend as little time as possible in the uk nowadays

Fair play mate…
Still don’t get why you know more about football than me because you are a Man U fan.:grinning:
I’ve followed my team all my life since a little kid, through thick and (a lot of) thin.
Same with England.

I’m from Surrey Rob and Man City only allow United to win sometimes so United and its fans doesn’t get too depressed and give up.
